I looked into this. I called caterpillar direct and gave them the part number from the photo in the first post of this thread by Luis A. The parts dept found the motor and it was well over $300, so I lost interest.

I have located a source for the fan/motor assembly in 24V or 12V, in France. I will import 5 pieces, price tbd shortly. I am hoping to avoid the CAT markup buying direct from the manufacturer. If you want to get on the list, shoot me a PM.

For info if one want to keep their 12v motor and buy a new one.

We pulled the AC fan motor from our 2800cs. Bosch part number on the motor is
0 130 061 004

A web search pops up that several suppliers have an original Bosch fan that fits E12, E24, E28 etc. Here is one add

Physically sure looks the same as our unit with a different part number.

Realoem says the AC blower for the E9 also fits in the same cars, E12,E24,E28.

So even though the Bosch part number is a bit different than on my unit, sure looks like these 12V fans are available is one wants to keep 12 volt unit. Suspect these new Bosch units are made in Brasil.

I have located the manufacturer of the "CAT" entire blower/motor assembly discussed here, except in 12V so no step-up required. As noted above, the motor is a 3-speed unit. That means you don't have to use a rheostat switch (which tends to fail) or buy an (expensive) bolt-on resistor/regulator circa $125 for that. With the 3 speed motor, you just need a 3 position switch. The company is located in France. In order to defray the freight charges and get a good price, I need to import a bunch of these. Price is $150 delivered lower 48, paypal F&F
