I am looking for advice on which electric fuel pump to get
Specific make and model would be helpful
I am using triple DCOEs, later head, larger valves, Schrick cam, etc.
Looking for most reliable
Thanks

gonna be hard to get reliable information on reliability.

Facet makes two external fuel pumps, one is noisy AF, the other less so.

What type did you have in mind and out it be submerged or external? Something close to OE is suggested.

If you run a high pressure BMW pump with an adjustable pressure regulator, would you get enough flow for the DCOE’s?

Carter 4070. Steve has one that has been in his car for 6 years. I just bought the same. A little noisier than some others but rotary and obviously very durable.

Yep and I added some additional damping to the included isolation mounts and it is not audible when engine is running. Mounted under car not in trunk.

I have had the same fuel pump in mine since the triple Weber conversion in ‘88 so it is a ticking time bomb. I was planning on buying the one that Pierce Manifold recommends for Weber’s to keep in the car for the eventual failure.

I followed the recommendation of a friend who was a Porsche/Mercedes Benz mechanic and used a pierburg pump that had been used by Mercedes and Porsche in the 1960s. Eurocarb no longer sells this pump (perhaps because Pierburg pumps are no longer made by a German company). Mine has been in service for three years now.

I patterned by install after Steve's install, using the same location, similar isolation mounts, and the fuel pump relay with the engine (ignition coil current) cut off and the three second prime at start up.

Because fuel pumps often give no warning before they fail, I tried to do my install in a way that would allow for a relatively easy roadside change. I bought two identical pumps and wired them both with pigtails that fit into a connector wired to the car. The spare pump is stored in the car. I can change my pump with a 10mm wrench for the mounts, a screwdriver for the fuel hose clamps and a vice grips to hold off the fuel while I make the change.

Steve suggested recently the possibility of using marine quick fuel line disconnects. I had not thought of this, but if I had this to do again, I would strongly consider it.

That's it. Here is where I mounted it with an additional pad between the bracket and the diff:

Somwhere I said not to install in trunk, it will reverberate loudly in there. Plus it’s better to mount it low to take advantage of gravity from the tank. Per Markos I keep a spare there.

The factory CSL/CSI pump is mounted close to Steve’s location, but against the trunk floor. I kept the bracket for my car.
