The screw would not come out because it was not there. I was unscrewing airyes, there is a small phillips screw on the underside. take the screw out and the chrome piece comes right off - this gives you access to remove the door handle top screw

Hopefully there is a more elegant solution for this
I'm going to 3d print these out IGUS (low friction brg material)Does anyone have a source for these wedges? Not that I doubted you but it was like glue in there. The rollers are soaking in acetone in my ultrasonic cleaner

Yes, Its electricIs yours electric? It uses the famous sardine can motor like earlier coupe window motors under the zipper in the headliner.
If you re-zinc it, do you have to disassemble it? Or can you do the entire assembly as-is?that is a door latch. there are 2 plastic grommets that go into the 2 slots (upper left and to the far right) for the lock rods - you need 4 of them. part #
those are available from BMW - i bought some over the winter. the best thing to do with the door latch is to clean it up real good and lubricate it. if you want to make it look great, you can re-zinc it.
Yeah I was thinking the plating is very thin, so prob ok to plate them as an assembly. Trick is cleaning them. Prob ok to vapor hone them, although they will have a somewhat matte finishyou can plate them assembled. Typically best to remove the springs first as they can be harmed by the process. That being said I have left them before and it wasn't an issue. They do look great after plating. More satisfying building it back up when everything is fresh.
The electroplating process will introduce hydrogen embrittlement on high hardness parts like springs. Baking them immediately after plating can greatly reduce the risk.If you re-zinc it, do you have to disassemble it? Or can you do the entire assembly as-is?
