Needed a "Go By"

interesting enough, i had 3 different charcoal loop samples from KHM / GAHH and WU ... all 3 were different. GAHH's was the darkest / most vibrant black. i probably still have them, will look tonight.

in terms of quality, i was mainly talking about the quality of leather.
 
Almost ready to wrap the dash in New vinyl! Need to buy a heat gun first.

Dash top vinyl turned out ok too! I started with the top then slowly wrapped my way underneath, the bottom corners are stretched and look a little rough but it's mostly hidden by wood. A little patience goes a long way here, and dry fitting before glue to know where the tough spots are helps. Don't be scared, try it yourself!

You'll never be happy with repairs to that surface. Don't ask me how I know? Get it vinyl wrapped. Cost me $450 but it looks great and I no longer have to worry it may crack in the future.

Guess I should look down the page before posting. Duh!

You have skills some of us don't have and I'm a very accomplished wood worker. Good job.
Everyone will want to know your technique?

Perhaps we can share techniques? Next on my list is applying new veneer. ;)
 
Don't ever want to do this again, couldn't believe how much this little guy fought to stay in the car. It's out now, heater core heading to the radiator shop for a makeover.

I'm curious to know; when adding the vinyl, did it change the thickness of the parts much?
Or did you (needed to) remove a layer of the core to make room for the fresh new vinyl?

I would think that if you just add 2 layers of vinyl on a part, totalling 1 or 2 mm's, that we'd run into issues fitting the switches in their respective holes, or the entire part between the cars' pillars.

Any issues encountered yet?

Thanks! These are legitimate concerns of mine as well. I did not remove material to compensate. The two pieces bolted together without a problem, but I have not fitted it in the car yet. The overall width is not changed because the outside edges do not get covered (even the original vinyl does not wrap). So, I don't believe the growth happens in critical areas, but is a hope at this stage of build. I went with a thinner vinyl and would recommend it.

Of course the motor didn't work, replacement Bosch was pretty easy. I used a roll of metal ductwork tape to suspend the fan while tapping the motor shaft.
 
Heater core was rebuilt. Ordered all new hoses, thermostat ect from tii. Not sure I'd recommend them if your expecting good service.

Still waiting for cooling system parts and too nice outside to be working in the basement, so I started digging into the wiring mess. There is a fuse panel in here somewhere. Depending on what I find, I may replace the fusebox with an aftermarket blade style.

Heater and AC boxes all rebuild and back in their homes. Anyone know if there is supposed to be a condensation drain hose on the bottom of AC box?
