Before tearing off the carb I did get the car to fire momentarily, it ran for 2 seconds and died. Carbs were bleeding so bad I stopped hoping the rebuild might cure the running issue. Was pretty exciting to hear it sputtering!

I'm a little behind with progress pics and skipping ahead to post the wood restoration. Considering using oil only for finish.. Danish oil vs teak oil (I may add tung yet). The piece with radius is original for reference.

All done with veneer adhesion with exception to the tricky radius on gauge pod. Just need to decide finish. I tried to align grains on pieces that butt together and did ok, pretty challenging for a novice.

Going through my pile of stock wheels to find 4 that are nice enough to restore and I notice this detail that I love! The one on the right is obvious poor repaint but take a look at the left wheel. The raised surfaces are smooth and a lighter shade of gray, while the lower areas still have rough casting marks.
Anyone seen this before? Maybe all were like this new?

Yes, a hirschmann antenna will fit behind the dashboard and still get radio stations! I have all new sheet metal and didn't want to cut a hole so....

Finishing up my rocker covers I combined a few advise pointers from this forum and tweaked them a bit. I am pleased I can take this apart if I need to without damaging anything.
Stripped off at least 4 layers of rubberized paint.

Painted backside with POR to help prevent rust.

Modified W/N plastic anchor nuts for attaching trim piece.
Cut off retainers that would have pushed through the hole, then tapped the hole with M6. I measured the hole with caliper and was nearly perfect diameter already.

After painting the covers with SEM 39813 I installed the trim pieces using M6 x 10 bolts

Tickled pink about my latest upgrade to a cigarette stickered lighter! Now, does anyone have an extra radio button for a blaupunkt?
