polaris 3.0 csa on BaT - vin 4335133 <5 speed conversion>

Can you guys elaborate? I ask from desire to understand. Not debating. I was at least impressed that the seller tried to include some photos of the areas often requested - above fusebox and above glovebox

there's a bunch of little things for starters
- the horrible paint in the engine compartment
- the rubber in the engine compartment, some missing / some wrong
- the messy sorting of the engine plumbing
- the high gloss dash
- the alpina badge on the trunk lid

then there are the floor pans ... there is so much that will need attention in the coming years the brake calipers seem a bit crusty, don't like the exhaust system. a lot of the receipts were 15 years old. this just looks like a car trying to be a survivor

I also see some things like the right side of rear bumper hanging, alignment of rear lights / trim, no black sticker underneath side grills ( (: ), cracked paint on roof...

I’m not sure why there’s a receipt for a case of anti-seize?
Does one car really need $500 worth of anti-seize ?

I don't know, there's a lot to like if you got it for the right price - knowing your were going to repaint it. For sure, someone put the belt line trim on way too soon after a previous repaint.

-Great color combo
-Side style lines look super crisp - that's hard to get right during body work
-Sunroof
-The quality of the interior refresh looks great; seats, dash, console sides, etc... The wood does clash with the red.
-Engine compartment and underside look pretty solid
-The Alpine reps and the front air dam look great on the car.
-Finally, you could drive it like it is and enjoy the hell out of it and get all kinds of thumbs up while your saving for body work.

Appears to be L-jetronic injection. Likely 80-81 633csi motor. I've had 15 years of trouble free driving with the L-Jet in my coupe. I would think twice before a bought a carbureted coupe. Not as modern as later Motronic injection, but has more period correct look and feel IMO.
Fuel injection
5 speed
Sunroof
Red leather
Wheels
Checks a lot of boxes.
Cosmetically? Great driver that you would not be afraid to drive.
Until yesterday I though this level of e9 was most effected by the slow market.

Looks like a decent car to me. As long as the sale price isn’t overblown due to the desirable color combo, I certainly wouldn’t fault anyone for jumping on it.

Looking through sales over the last few years, moderate number of cars in this category, seems that they often sell for $35-55 depending on how much someone really wants this one particular color combo, etc. This one from last year may be a middle-of-the-road comparable, in answer to @D Calkins question above.

BaT has a nice graph with pretty reasonable filters of all cars it has auctioned, can filter for only sold, etc. Here's a graph for last two years excluding CSL, CSi, 2800, parts auctions. Obviously this is cut/paste, running the graphing yourself you can click on each dot to see the auction (for those who haven't spent time on BaT site very much)
