Catch of the Day,
Picked up those beauty original alpina set yesterday.
It's absolutely complete and original, nothing aftermarket.
Now I got my wish list completed.
Rested almost 40 years in a attic countryside.

Im so happy and grateful I got these....

That’s amazing, congratulations. Which model Solex are they? It would be interesting if you could document the jetting and choke sizes of them also.

Thank you,
When I overhaul them, I will document the jettings.
Those are 40th.
Comes from a 3.0 as I'm informed.
We will see how the jets working on the power test .

If a car is ever in an frontal accident, this chin parts is the first part to get banged up. And replacements parts post '73 were made in the US style. Your car thus likely still has the chin part it left the factory with.

It thus is likely you car also never had frontal collision.
The fan housing stamp confirm your assumption.
It's also from 1972, never changed.

That paint remover work pretty well.
Have to fix some dents as well, but from that it's in pretty good shape.

Pardon me if I missed it… what did you use for paint remover?

No, you don't miss it,
It's GRÜNECK (grueneck) Power Abbeitzer (paint remover)

ambratec Colorstrip 2011 Gel work similar.

Need 24 till 48 h to work.
You brush it thick on and cover it with foil.
When all the pain is crinkly, you scrape it just off.

Ambratek

Here in the USA, no non-commercial paint removers work worth a damn since methylene chloride was banned. I tried 3 different kinds on my wheels and gave up and broght them to a aluminum rim restore place to be tanked.

I try a lot diff. paint remover at my last project.
Found out the 2 working, grueneck and ambratec.

Can't you get a can from a commercial?

In the final process of wet sending.
Something with zero fun factor, but there is light at the end of tunnel.
Time schedule is a little bit off, but....
Got a lot of dents to remove.
