Rubber FAQ

This FAQ is an attempt to identify all rubber needs for an e9 restoration. Note that this does not include engine/driveline/suspension bushings and seals. Given that W&N carries most of these parts, a link to their website was provided to assist the identification process. If you have additions, please reply below!

Edit: Pics for 175 should be tied
to missing 51711810529. Move 175 to fender post
and include pic.

I have created a spreadsheet with all rubber part numbers and book location for Mark to review, will post soon. That rear inner fender one is not shown even though it exists. Parts w/o a part number that are NLA may not be on the list.

I am highly impressed with the turnaround from @HB Chris! I’ll try to add some of the NLA stuff with a part number. It is helpful for folks like me who still need to restore their car.

Edit: Thanks to @m73 for finding a few elusive fender seal pics!

Figure it costs about 2,000€ to 2,500€ to replace all of the rubber on your vehicle (as of September 2020).

You can see where we are going with this. Not very mobile-friendly due to the tables. If you need this much rubber I would advise that you site down in front of a computer. :D

Note:
*
Need to add tail light gaskets
They aren’t listed separately I don’t think.

Okay I'm stuck rationalizing the following part numbers. They are distinctly different in the diagrams, but I need to tie them to a pic and put them in the proper category. Chris I'll take a look at your original sheet once again. Scott - I was confused by 529. Looks like the small cowl corner seals but the diagram shows a long hood seal. Easy to solve I'm sure, but I'm having a hard time visualizing. I think 175 is the gasket that I mentioned in front and rear of the car, goes between the fenders, similar or same to 180 (which I duplicated).

Also scott, you had an overrider cover that I didn't recognize the profile on. In your gallery.

Markos - xx529 is the little piece that goes in the corners of the engine compartment (near the windshield) - between the gutter and the top of the inner fender, pushed into place.

there are 2 different 175 parts.
41145703175 is #17 on 41/15
51376740175 is the rear window rubber trim between the frame + the metal trim at the headliner

i don't have an overrider cover in my gallery. i don't have the xx817098 pics in my photos either
i have to look for more rubber pieces in my boxes. i know i have more.

Front turn signals actually have two seals; one between body and chrome base (which I think you already have pic of), but there also is a rubber gasket that seals the lens to the chrome base. In the attached pics (From ebay, it's for sale for a dump ass price of @ 600 usd...) you see the body rubber as a separate part, and the rubber between chrome and lens is still in place inside the chrome base.

Thanks @eriknetherlands! I need to clean this up a bit. I’ll add the inner seals. Also the screws on the blinkers have little rubber donuts. So do the t-bolt nuts for the belt-line, but maybe I’m splitting hairs at this point. :D
