These Wheels on a Bavaria?

HI DMWBMW
What dimensions are your 15" wheels pictured above on the coupe? Beautiful car BTW!! What would you sell them for? I think that is the wheel for my '73 sahara Bavaria!!

At the same time, I am looking at these. They are 15 x 7.5", 5x120, ET 15 for $113 USD each. I am curious about the fitment; are any spacers needed?

I’ll provide the math and my head, and you can decide. I presume that you will want to run at least a 205 tire. 205’s definitely look mildly stretched on an 8” wheel. They probably look okay on a 7.5” wheel. So knowing this, keep in mind that many people will state that a 205 tire may rub the arches of a <coupe> when running 16” wheels. Last thing to note, coupes and e3’s have the same strut housings.

Okay, so a 7.5” ET15 wheel is about 11mm closer to the strut than a factory 7” ETL wheel. This fits. It is also about 9mm further away from the strut than an 8” ET20 (adjusted time ET17 with a 3mm spacer). An 8” wheel is also running 225’s. This also fits (with said spacer).

On the outside, you will be about 3mm closer to the lip than a 7” ET11. You will also be running 205’s. Although the tires are less square at 15” cs 16”, there is a food chance that you will experience the same fender rubbing that 16” 7” ET11 owners have experienced. The fender lips are about 12mm wide (give or take), so <on paper>, rolling should get you cleared.

You can also just do the math to figure out how much the negative camber plates will help to clear the fender arch. I would imagine that this would do it, but leave it to the folks who drive their cars.

For the rear, the coupe has plenty of room to run 8’s at ET20. The e3 seems to have even more real estate. A 7.5” ET15 wheel protrudes about 2mm more than an 8” ET20 (which fits). The inside has plenty-o-space.

That is my math. Take it with a grain of salt. Buy one wheel, mount one tire, dry fit it and cycle the suspension. Leave room for tire deflection. Assess and return/order.

No fitment issues on my coupe. Bolt right on without spacers.

$400 plus shipping for the mounted wheels.

Tom,

I looked at the original receipt from Tire Rack and they are only called RX (part # is RX224DSK) although they look like style 42 on the link that duct-tape posted above.

Yes..... they resemble the style 42’s that I have.
