What did you do to your E9 today?

Uhh, that's not it...
http://s1382.photobucket.com/upload/
That it? Sh...
Trying to make you proud kwyjibo, Mako
Have to read your pm how to again

Try opening one of your photobucket photos so that its the only photo on the page, not the sheet of thumbnails. Now repeat what I think you're doing (which I think is correct) and you'll get the photo to load and not the "library".

And to stay on topic: car's first full day in Colorado, went to Denver Cars and Coffee.

your coupe looks gorgeous ....

12do- photos look good... don't paint.
rsporsche- thanks!
tod- I fully expect you to contact me the next time you are in town.

Took Athena out for her maiden voyage with her 5-speed. Drives so much better than with the original 4 speed. Quieter and much more comfortable cruising RPMs

Had a leaking valve stem that needed a new gasket on the BBS RSs, a good excuse for a drive.

Finally installed a carpet set that I had bought over a year ago (gahh). While I realize the idea of multi colors or patterns in carpet is to hide wear and dirt, the original two tone carpet always looked dirty or faded to me so I went with solid black. I know the purist will disagree but the tan leather interior looks better against the black than the two tone brown.

After 10 days of rain finally a break, I had a triple Weber idle jet tuning idea and air corrector change that I gave a go and it's never run better. Nice afr's at all conditions and the engine howls with delight at +4k rpm. Drove it all day with a big grin and blew the better part of a tank of gas. Waxed, detailed, then covered her up for the week. These cars love to run.

Installed a rebuilt, functioning D-Jet ECU. It runs so smooth now I look for excuses to drive around.

Removed her automatic transmission. Unfortunately, the work week is now upon me and I am going to Atlanta for Sharkfest next weekend.

I finished recovering my floor panels with new elephant skin, still have to refine the installation onto the floor as the screws are not connecting quite right over the gas tank ... but the panels look a lot better. goes together relatively quick with an upholstery air stapler with 3/16" staples.

I am about half way through the recovering of the rear panel i made (to surround the taillights). this is a much harder as the old skin couldn't be used as a template since the panel that i am wrapping is wrapping is new ... and not quite the same shape as the one made by the PO. additionally, since the panel board is thinner than the floor boards, you can't use staples as they will telegraph through to the finished side - pushing on the skin. so its slower with contact cement and clamps ... if you try this, make sure that you put a piece of panel board on the finished side (between the clamp and the skin) or you will damage the skin embossing.

will post some finished pics when i get it all done.

i just realized this is my 2800th post, so its fitting that its about my 2800cs

Finally test fit the seatbelt relocation of the inertia reel into the rear quarter panel cavity. Have to do a few tweaks and sort out the bolt spacers before doing the rear quarter panel penetrations and trims. Used a compact reel (Australian helicopter belt/reel) and 1981 320i bits and pieces. Gets the belt lower where it crosses the shoulder.

Not nearly as nice as the Paul Cain version but very affordable mod that could also work with the factory roof mount in the absence of a roll bar for the top mount point.

Decoupe,

I love your setup. I'd feel more comfortable having a roll bar with a 3 point attachment on it. Do you have more pictures of the reel setup that you can share? I need to install new belts in my coupe this summer. I'm probably just going to get some used belts from an e21. I was thinking e24 also, but I haven't put any head space around the reel configurations. Ideally, I want an inner facing reel, with a slit in the rear 'door' panel.

Also, I'm somehow comforted in the fact that I'm not the only poor soul with 10" speaker holes cut into the parcel shelf. What are your plans for that area?

Thanks - a solid workmanlike "kludge". You should be able to use the arrows to move through the whole file.

I didn't want to do any cutting in the cavity so not sure if the e21 reel is small enough to fit both sides (the reel itself is asymmetric so might work one side and not the other). Used 1/8" thick steel plates welded in to give appropriate strength to mount the reel.

The roll bar was my wife's idea - given my propensity for self inflicted damage and those tiny little A+C pillars - it seemed a good idea (really for all to rare track days). The speaker holes have wood lids and the shelf cover hides all manner of sins. The speakers and amps are in a box and I use earbuds out of traffic.

Thinking of having stickers made saying "NOT LISTENING" across the top of the front/back windows.

Well it wasn't me and it wasn't today but we have not been slacking with Verona. The soft brake that started with a fluid flush was probably caused by bleeding with the pedal an old master so ended up getting new master and booster, so brakes are fine. And a long list of other items includes front calipers and control arms. It never ends but the car gets better with time instead of worse.

First Drive

I took the Great White out for the first drive. Went to VSR to see Mario and the progress on my engine. Came home and cleaned the wheels, then the windows and since the day was still pleasant, cleaned and treated the leather interior with those Lexan products.

Drove the hell out of my coupe for the last two days on the Targa California over 700 miles of two lane blacktop. Downshift, who needs to downshift? Torque beyond my wildest imagination, why did I wait ten years?
