WTB: 1600/2002 - FOUND

What is even more entertaining (and I don't mean watching people's cars get hit is entertaining AT ALL), but then I move over to the Buoy bar down by the boat ramp on the lake....now that is entertaining.
I am not very good with a trailer, so I sympathize. There was a series of Miller commercials sometime back that were sort of tongue-in-cheek macho, they just had a voiceover talking about things men used to be good at while showing somebody being very bad at whatever was being described. One of them was backing in a trailer. I think there was lawn care and maybe food at football games too. They were fairly entertaining.
I know, I need to get a life....I'm lost without the Bavaria....LOL.
Have you had any inspiration for a replacement yet? How about an original Audi Quattro? I know their values have shot up, but 5 out of the last 8 on BAT sold for under $40k. There was a nice looking one that went for $65k too.

Yeah that's what the general consensus is but I just have this thing, especially with older Audi's. They are one of our (BMW) arch rivals, it's like being a 49er fan then having to convert to a Rams fan.....LOL, I'lll never do it. I realize it is apples and oranges but just an analogy. I distinctly remember how poorly made the Audi's were compared to BMW back in the day. And I still here they have issues and require a lot of maintenance with the new ones, whether true or not I wouldn't know because I never owned one.

I love our E61 M-Sport Touring X-drive but it's supposed to be my wife's and I don't want to get same car. I'll look into it a little more, maybe start lurking on Audi forums or something (heaven forbid). Porsche S 4's are an option, just a pricey one. I may be selling my '89 Porsche 911 Silver Anniversary soon which is a great car and yes, a rival of course to BMW too, but at least the quality and reliability, especially the G-50 '87-'89 models is there. But not 4wd, and even though it would handle well in the snow w/ ice tires, just can't do it. Too low in the front anyways with the IROC air dam and the chemicals they put down in the winter would tear it up and it is in pristine condition (as a driver, well sorted, just not a show car). I feel too old for a Subaru WTI or Mitsubishi EVO.

A privateer built Safari Porsche would be awesome but they are going for big bucks so I still am keeping my eyes peeled for a rust free, low milage, 80's 325ix but the secret is out on those. I keep looking locally and never see them come up for sale, if they do they are total POS's and overpriced. Maybe wait for this market to crash and bottom feed after Porsche sells. Having a really hard time unloading that, really hard time, I love that thing. '89 is like new for me compared to a '73...

I get the loyalty thing. The Quattro is cool enough and important enough in automotive history for me to probably overcome that bias. Probably. Also I have a thing for hatchbacks...

With your 4.11 rear end you probably won’t be doing much freeway driving!
I may be content with "town cruising". But what about swapping in a 5-speed. The guy I bought the car had the 5-speed trans and I left it on the floor (would have had to pay extra for it). I suspect he still has it.

Five speed would be great, but if motor is original it has a six bolt flywheel to the crank, three finger pressure plate with the very early large t/o bearing which is NLA. Solution is drill flywheel for modern pressure plate and t/o bearing or swap crank to an 8 bolt style with flywheel. Someone did this to my Manila 69 three or four owners after me but I don’t know what approach they took. The 2002 was a 3.64 diff BTW.

I had to do that to get a 5 speed into my ‘67 2000CS. Race machine shop made quick work of it.

Unless you plan on lots of highway driving, don’t bother. That little 1.6l will be very happy revving along.

In 1971, driving my brand new $3,000.(thank you Ma,) 1600, didn't even have a radio) I cruised Trans Canada 1 East to West all day at 90 mph. It ran better each day. Loved those high revs all day long. There were lots of other high speed driving occasions as I put 12,000 miles on and she never blinked once.

Love this! New raised Roundels are available from the dealership. Not as raised as originals yet a good easy replacement.
I think he meant trim, not roundels, on some of the 1800, 2000, don't remember which, the front belt line trim had indents in it
