Copart BMW finds...

I see a combination:

and:

available here, asking price 2300 euro, NMNA:

it might need a bit more though....
- Hood & hinges, bumper, light buckets and alu trim parts aren't difficult to come by.
- Could the roof be fixed by a body worker? I think so.
- New left outer fender (2K euro/usd, 1K used)
- some reshaping of the inner fender hopefully only?
- new glass...

what i fear the most is that the frame rails took a hit and are pushed in, possibly creating deformation up to the drivers' seat. The frame rails come as far forward as the grilles, so they must have been squashed

I have a feeling that as it's classified as a "Category B" damaged car it has to be dismantled and is prohibited from going back on the road, and to that end it may only be sold to a registered car dismantler

She’s listed as a category B write off , so unfortunately legally she cannot be repaired and can only be used as a source of parts .
I believe the body must be crushed by a certified vehicle recycling company.
Hopefully whoever was in it wasn’t injured.

Not sure if I should post here or in Cars For Sale. The Copart e9 from last September has matriculated to eBay.
A little hammer and dolly work has been done to the wrinkled nose/fender and it comes with a salvage CA title. Still mislabeled a CSI.
$57.9K

Ouch! Getting it from this

Isn't the hard part. Getting it smooth again is what takes 95% of the metal body work hours. Those are still to be done/paid by someone.
Not sure how much it now sold for from Copart, but they spend not more then 10 hours banging away at it, and no new part and still paint to do...

I actually tried to bid on the car as I could use a lot of parts from her to finish/ improve my own car .
Copart had a system called
“Breaker Bid 4 U”
And I was hoping to use that and travel to a Copart premises and strip off the useful parts from the car.
Unfortunately they no longer offer that service.
It allowed non certified cat B breakers to be allowed to purchase Cat B cars under strict rules, ie the car must be crushed within 10 days of sale and it must be crushed by Copart .
So if it did exist
I could use the rear bumper, the door cards ( mine have speaker holes ) the seats ( mine are a bit faded )
A rear light if they are not pitted.
Some of the waistline trim
The carpet
Etc, etc
Anyway I guess it is just not meant to be
This time.

It might be worth keeping an eye on Ebay, I did see an Alfa in a similar state (Cat B, break only) that was being auctioned by a breaker with the intention that the successful bidder/buyer was free to strip a much off the car as they wished, including chunks of the body, as long as it didn't leave their premises and they ultimately crushed what was left.

those look like they might be real Alpina 16" wheels ... would be worth somebody going and checking ... might be the reason to buy the car if its cheap enough. could also be Coupeking Alpinas, but they are 20 spoke and the fins appear to align with the lugs.

That interior is like new! :) I don't think the Bavarie got FI until '75. Must be a replacement engine. I don't see the "burn" ???
thats a replacement engine with later injection ... its not D jet. yep, the interior looks great.
right there with you ... no burn scars anywhere that is visible.

My guess would be the fuse box. ;) Also looks like Fjord. Nice car, I put it on my watch list, that's an auction I bid.

It'll go for a lot more than I'm willing to pay. There will be others that know about the Alpinas and in socal.
