    Umpteenth oil question.

I did a search, but really couldn't find any answers. When I first bought my '73 e9 about 9 years ago, the car had been using Rotella T 15-40. Recently my shop has been using Mobil 1 Synthetic 5w-40. Is this the correct weight & should I be using an oil with zinc? Also, does anyone have...

    Apple AirTag

I have a kill switch on the battery & a club on the steering wheel. I keep the car unlocked as I'm always suspicious it may not unlock. Have 2 locks on the garage door. So yes to both of your questions, especially since I have 3 other cars insured with Hagerty.

    Apple AirTag

But did your insurance company reduce your premium?

    Apple AirTag

Well, I thought I came up with a great money saving idea for my antique policy. Hide an Apple Airtag in my e9 & surely I would see a decrease in my premium. Not exactly said Hagerty. I would have to subscribe to an OnStar type of paid subscription for this to happen. Hagerty didn't mention what...

    Door latch "chicklets"

I bought a pair from Roger's tii BMW Parts. Let me tell you, the chicklets do not slide on without a fight! I had to use a clamp to squeeze them into place. Now my doors obey me when I close them..

    Hood weight

Does anyone know the weight of the hood? Am thinking about installing torsion support struts to work around my dead factory installed part.

    Hood hinges have died

Oops, I see you are located on the West Coast. Yes, the freight would be high. The more I think about it, since it has been in use since the 70s, no way to tell how long it will last. Could die without much warning like mine. I think using Stabilus struts will be the way to go.

    Hood hinges have died

What are you asking & where are you located? How old is the assembly? Thanks.

    Hood hinges have died

I read some reviews of installing the entire assembly, but there were leveling problems for the closed hood. I think my solution might be to install an old fashion prop rod. I did see a solution for a 2002. The owner installed 2 stabilus gas struts on each side. Something like this:

    Hood hinges have died

Thanks for the lead. My car is parked off site, so I can't look at it immediately to see how the tube is connected at each end to the hinges. Is it possible to just replace the torsion springs that are inside that tube, or does that involve cutting to remove the tube & then welding it back...

    Hood hinges have died

After 46 years they no longer hold the hood up. Looking for the fix. Is there a spring in that long hollow bar that goes across the front of the engine bay? Need advice. Thanks.

    Splotches in my paint!

At a recent show in the high 80's degree heat, it began to rain. I got out a disposable clear plastic cover. Took it off when the rain stopped. When I got home & garaged the car, I noticed splotches in the paint. I think something in the cover may have leached into the paint even tho it had been...

74 Riveria Blue 5 speed BAT

I looked at this car maybe about 10 years ago when I was on a search for an e9. It was outside Philadelphia. It was beautiful, but I just did not like the Riviera Blue. I think he was asking $30k at the time. He also did an Inka 2002.
