It's alive! Again. At this point all I know is the wiring is correct after having it all apart. Started and ran for a couple seconds. I don't have any coolant in the engine yet so I'll tackle it next week. Taking a few days off...

Well, I gambled and lost. I swapped the head from an engine that was suppose to be good, but after getting it running again it didn't sound/feel right. I did a compression check and the numbers are worse than before. :( I knew it was a possibility so I'm not that surprised. Good 'ol trusty @Mike Goble has a B35 long block that he tried to get me to put in before swapping the head so it looks like that's the plan now. Considering that 75% of my time up to this point has been cleaning parts as I put them back together, the swap should go fairly fast.

On hold for a little while though, have a kitchen remodel to do now.

Now in the garage. The hood prop/torsion bar is not working so the hood won't stay open. I've never had to deal with one before so I'll have to do some searching on a fix. Decided to take the hood off because one of the bolts holding the hinge was stripped and I had to grind it off, plus I'll be working in the engine compartment anyway.

Battery from 1980's.
Looks like a great one to work on.
Let me know what you find on good props.
I have a couple parts.

With the kitchen remodel going on I don't have much time for the E3 but managed to pull the motor out last night.

Pulled the transmission and drive line out of the car last night. It has a Getrag trans with a six bolt guibo. I was expecting a ZF. Think is was changed at some point? The clutch disc and assembly are from 1981 and look very good. I don't think it got much use between when it was put in and the last time it was registered in 1994.

Well, I'm still working during this crazy pandemic, although slightly fewer hours. This allowed me to get some work done on my man cave and the E3. Replaced the old rotten carriage doors with a roll up and added a man door so I can lock the roll ups from the inside. Putting on the siding now and will paint soon.

Got the long block from Mike installed last night with the help of my son. Went in really easy and now I can start assembling everything, for the third time.

Done with the garage except for paint. Back to working on the E3 and could probably start it tonight but I think I'll finish the fuel system first.... tank, electric pump, etc.

I fired it last night for about two seconds to make sure I hooked everything up correctly. It's a good one! I only have down pipes on it and it fired so quickly that it made me jump. I'll have the fuel pump mounted tonight and will post photos.

Damn, I keep getting reminded that this car is over 50 years old. Got the fuel pump mounted and started checking out the fuse box for power and see a few fried wires. Anyone have a wiring diagram or fuse box diagram?

I have the wiring diagram for a 1975 3.0 Si. I assume that is very different, yes? I can send you a scan if you think it would help.

I just found the scans Chris posted. That should work. I haven't moved my manuals to the shop yet so worst case is I'll get them when I get home..

And a fun jump to have I’m sure! Clean start! As I get older I have come to like something with a good jump to it. It can be a reminder that there more exciting things to do than walking and talking with a mask on. I’m dreaming of teaming up on a project with a friend.
