A lot of extra crap going on here- waste of time.

alan-
you need a harness converted from e32 179 ecu period into a harness for MS pnp2
cost 850.00

you need a MS pnp2 ecu
cost 800.00

you will need to go to Dyno
cost 500.00

you will need to get this installed and initial tune
cost 4000.00

you need a Wideband O2 sensor
cost 225.00

you need an O2 sensor bung in your exhaust.
Cost 200.00

do you have the ability to pay about 7,000.00 to get your car running and tuned?

Let me know.

I hope he is everything he says he is.
Will the stock motronic ecu really work with your "full race" S38B36?
I'm very happy if you finally get it running, but I'd go with Don all day long, guaranteed success.
I can't see how this craigslist technician could do it that much cheaper?

Keep in mind that if this guy has touched five s38’s in the bay area, people should know who he is and what he’s about. Please do your homework before committing. Ask for references.

Not to be confused with ex Korman s38 builder Henry Lawrence. You can trust a last name like Lawrence right @sfdon?

Okay Alan, it's just that when a "GOLDMINE" shows up on your doorstep, it just might not be. Too good to be true, and so on.
Sorry I don't want to be pessimistic, but be careful, alright!

henry and i spoke for a good hour or so and he enlighened me to the fack that the whole underbodt needs some
serious flat palte steel strengthening as he seem where the torque and power of thew engine literally tears the rear end
off the body as the contact points are very flimsy - so hes going to do all that also.
im so lucky to meet this man
so onward we go @!!!!!!!
i know people quite well as ive been interacting for a good 40yrs in the business
this is indeed the real deal
comments to follow as they progress
have the references i need

If your compression ratio has changed because of new and different pistons- The ecu won't work- ignition table wrong
If your cams have changed- the ecu won't work- AFR table wrong
If you are putting out more power- ecu won't work- VE table wrong.

Using a stock ecu on a modified engine is "challenging"

You can customize the ecu maps for a few thousand dollars.

Alan- as always, I wish you the best of luck with this.
Keep us up to date on your progress!

I'll second the idea of at the very least speaking with a reference or two for this individual. The motivation in money and stuff. Potential loss of your your money and stuff, Henry's potential gaining of your money and breaking your stuff. I think caution is well advised.

Paraphrased not quoted…

Are you referring to the differential mount that La Jolla has been selling for years? Most members install this when restoring their car. You said it wasn’t required (first response).

Henry Lawrence is the guy that I was referring to earlier. Correct me if I am wrong but he lives in NC and operates a shop there. I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but old timers running shops out of the Southeast generally don’t relocate to the bay area.

Also, his LinkedIn Profile says Reidsville, NC

I'm a newbie here. I've looked through your restoration, and you can do things I can only dream about. That said, has Henry got your engine running yet? Because that's why you hired him, right? Your S38 engine will never "tear your car apart" if it doesn't run. It also won't tear your car apart when it's running in your garage, driveway, shop - wherever.
