Barney’s Baikal Blue coupe refresh

I used BASF Paint…
ceylon formulas vary greatly, and as we know it changes a lot depending on the light. the spray-out sample seems very orange-gold, but it matches the engine compartment and is very close to @ccr2002's original paint CS. yours is very pretty, i've been afraid that mine is too orange. my paint

is ppg. the 2002 is a restoration from the Werk Shop that was on display at BMW NA

I'm sure that the amount of clearcoat affects the reflection/spectral whatever to some extent. My 02 is (incorrectly for a 76..) Nevada, but has a clearcoat, where the original was a single stage, and appeared more "flat" for a better word...and I see more green and maybe even some blue, than what I have seen of originals, c.'71. My memory (now we are really being subjective...) tells me that Ceylon was a little more "flat" than alot of the modern interpretations...or maybe it had started to look tired and flat pretty early on. But then again, BMW's forte fifty years ago wasn't metallic paint anyway....and new always looks better, even Sahara. just my 02 cents worth.

starting to get the parts sorted out for the coupe, plan to start putting back together in a couple of week as soon as we finish this Ceylon 2002 Tii…

I can see you couldn't find the original Campy center caps either. I have two but the other two remain so elusive! I was surprised at the 10lb weight on those wheels. Looks great

The longest journey begins with a single step…moved the coupe into the shop today Starting to formulate my game plan, I’m gonna call in professional help to get the engine back together / to help install and get it started. Very excited to get starTed on coupe the Ceylon 2002tii is at painter getting some final work, running on its own power.

Time for those camber plates, don’t forget the spring on the bell crank, new top bolt on oil canister, a new bleed screw, new headlight plugs and connectors and some fresh motor mounts. If your headlight and horn relay blocks are worn and ugly- now is the time to replace with the 3D copies. Looks very pretty!

I was shocked when I tore down the motor I removed from my car that there’s no spring on the bell crank and the clip was even missing, replaced with a bit of wire. I guess that could explain the broken rocker. I pulled the mounts off the other motor I got with the car to have them powder coated and no spring there either! I just checked the engine I have for the car and it has no spring either. Hopefully I have one.
