Chamonix 3.0CS Restoration

Well, looks like I will be rescuing a 73 3.0CS four speed that has lived it’s whole life in California and was last registered in 1989. I won’t have it in my garage for a week or two and I wasn’t looking for a project but my local enablers convinced me it could be a fun if not tedious project. I will post more photos when I bring it home.

Wow, pretty exciting. And a limited slip diff to boot!

Well, it’s cranking great thanks to a new battery. I have fuel to the carbs but no spark, it has never even hinted at firing. I have 12v at the coil, rotor, points and cap look new as do plug wires. I adjusted the points, replaced the condenser and have now ordered a new coil. It ran for Paul 2 weeks ago!

I also have my work cut out for myself and will be tracing wiring and removing weird added wires.

Most cars in New England look like that after restoration! Nice find. One can see the infamous marshmallow appearance of the transmission mount which says "start spending money here".

hey Chris, this looks like a wonderful project. is this going to stay a VERY original coupe? i think i know the answer, but this should turn out wonderful. somebody is going to end up with a wonderful coupe. i do like chamonix coupes, but for me its either red interior (gr8white style), black, tan ... and then blue)
