Copart BMW finds...

Love the P6 Rover sedans. Yes that is the Buick/GM aluminum V8 originally the 215 used in early 60’s Skylark/Specials. Later sold to Rover. I think they were also used in Triumph TR8s and Stags. Still has dual SUs but some type of aftermarket distributor. Another day another car I would buy.

Not used in Stags. Triumph used a home grown V8 which had serious reliability issues. Yes on TR8's, Yes on MGB GT V8, MGR V8 and I believe in the MGC (but not sure).

A stick shift P6 is pretty rare (especially LHD)

I put a P6 engine in my MGB (converted to a single 4 barrel)

not the MGC
Hi guys as well as the cars already mentioned the Rover v8 engine was factory fitted in Rover sd1’s
Morgan Rv8’s
Some TVR’s
Some Marcos’s
Land Rover defenders
Range Rover’s
MG Rv8’s
and probably a few more I have forgotten.
It even ended up in some police vans and some ambulances I think.
Then it was very popular with kit car builders, so it ended up in a lot of really really nice aftermarket cars then also.

I love your cold air intake for the carburettor, routed out through the firewall and into the fresh air intake duct in front of the windscreen.
Your Ht coil location is pretty cool too and then is that a remote oil filter housing on the passenger side inner wing ?

I'm told your car with the aluminum block v8 is ligher than the original 4 cylinder :)
Yes, 40 pounds lighter

No new holes in the firewall. I replaced the fresh air heater with that fabricated box and routed the intake air from that box. The downside is no heater :(. Yes, remote oil filter. The stock engine has the oil filter located where it messes with the steering.

She’s an absolute beauty !
Is your air filter housing brushed aluminium or is it brushed stainless steel ?

We had a standard 1.8 Mgb gt for a while about 20 years ago and she was a really nice car normally.
Except for 1 morning while heading to work I was driving along on a wet country road not far from my house , I took a right turn on a downhill fork in the road and the back end broke loose and she spun around completely. I managed to stop with full opposite lock and heavy breaking and luckily I didn’t hit anything.
And that was with a standard engine.
I can only imagine how much fun it must have been with a small block Ford or the Buick v8 under the bonnet.

I'm not an expert but I did wonder about the solid axel, leaf spring rear suspension on some of the MG's, is that a non starter or can you have a well behaved car sports car with rear leaf springs. Also the lighter Buick/Rover v8 make the weight distribution a little heavier in the rear (Beavis and Buthead laugh) which would help?

i think ideally with a big motor that you would want to explore options to redo the entire (especially the rear) suspension. having owned and driven a 73 bgt for about 6 years ... it was a whole new world when i got my first 2002. wow, what a difference in so many ways.

i remember one evening i was pre-checking a TSD road rally in the BGT and a sharp curve came up and i made it thru the turn, but the backend decided to keep sliding and i spun another 180 after the turn. had to get out and check my drawers after that one.
