Dead on. And that copyright stamp. Can't decide if it is a grifter's scene-setting flourish or the tell on the seller's delusion/paranoia. Mostly reminds me of the old ad selling pocket lint for $1,000,000--never has lint sounded so important & desirable.

The force is strong with this one:

This is the dealership that sold off a lot of cars at an OKC auction earlier this year at no reserve, but with final prices that raised murmurs they were seller buy-backs. I really couldn't tell. I guess if you agree to auction a large-enough lot and get a break on buying commission in return, it makes sense to just pay the commission and keep the car. But pretty skeevy for auction house to call them "no reserve" if the preferred commission was so low it allowed the seller to effectively have an undisclosed reserve.

Yeah, I still can't believe that Japanese 518i sold for $8k.

Project cars that I like that have been hanging out on CL for a while. There is also a really cool brown 528i in the northeast but I can't recall where.

Have you looked at the 72 2002? Those shock towers are so scary, it seems like they may have painted over alot of bad.

This is the one that taunts me and I wish someone would buy. It's getting down to drivetrain values.

Agreed on the golf. It was $11K and I think a lot of folks left disappointed. The shock towed as seen seem very fixable, but I am completely ignorant about 2002 structural concerns.

I dunno. Doesn't seem THAT hard to fix; unlike our E9s on the front:

Just last night, my wife and I watched the movie "The Mothman Prophesies" with Richard Gere, Laura Linney and Debra Messing. The car they drive in the beginning of the movie is a 528e, and I was enjoying seeing it.

my experience is that most of the 528e were automatics. i'm sure there are some but no idea how many.

Reasonably priced M20 bell housings are regulars on Ebay, but I don't think this one is reasonably priced:
