are you using a Noid test lamp?
When you activate (push on throttle linkage in engine bay) with key on do you hear lots of tiny clicks (injector pulses)? Push down quickly for more clicks.

Remember injector duration if any is determined by speed and load. No trigger or no load signal results in no injector signal. Trigger is distributor and load is MPS. Did you test for continuity at 8 and 10 and 7 and 15?
You have the trouble shooting guide?

If you have injectors with key on by manipulating throttle but none with cranking you have a trigger or MPS problem.

Update/Recap :
- there is still no pulse to injectors when ignition key on ...
- there is continuity at 7,8, 10 &15 ...tried another MPS and no change
- there is continuity from ground to ECU (pin 11)
- there is continuity from trigger plug to points 21 & 22 on ECU ( now has 123 ignition distributor )
- there is continuity for master relay wires
- there is spark and engine cranks

....thoughts ? ...yes, I have trouble shooting guide(s) .

Thanks, Simon

24 and 16?
This is a ‘74?
Is there a single white wire over by your coil that is disconnected?

Hi Don, am I supposed to be testing for continuity from battery + to pins 16 &24 ?...if so, there's no continuity . Yes, my car is a '74 . No single white wire by the coil ( the only white wires are the 3 that go into the trigger plug ...2 of these are in turn connected to the 2 x wires on the 123 distributor ...the remaining white wire I think becomes redundant under the new electronic setup ).Cheers, Simon

Voltmeter set to dc volts
Test battery first got 12 volts?
Key on now
leave black lead connected to negative post of battery and red probe goes to test pin 30 and pin 87 of main relay
Tell me if you get 12volts at those pins

...just to clarify...am I doing this voltage test with the main relay still plugged in to the harness ?...or just the relay by itself ie unplugged ?

Plugged in.
You are testing if voltage is present to the relay and if the relay is functioning.

The pins 30, 86, 87 need to show battery voltage +
Pin 85 needs to show ground.

Power goes in at pin 30 and comes out at pin 87 if triggered by pin 86

Battery( key off ): 12.08V
Pin 85- there is ground/continuity
Pin30-11.8v
Pin 86-11.21v
Pin 87- 11.78v

You need to swap out your MPS and then your distributor
