If there is one thing I refrain from doing on BaT is saying anything negative. With this coupe someone is going to get a nasty surprise when they buy it and I had to point out two things as my friend Mr Kohler already called the seller out on the Getrag 260 and no speedo drive. I hate seeing someone taken advantage of and usually keep my mouth shut.

Check out the front floor pans, driver door fit where it sags at the rear, generic trunk seal, and many more things. And he is restoring five other coupes?

There are so many other problems, the guy needs to take a breather and just relax before touching those other cars.

I don’t know why those E21 rear side markers were left during the repaint. Look at the pedals.

Speedo doesn’t work and seller obviously never told BaT as they would definitely disclose that.

Someone put this switch back on the car!

I don’t like to say anything negative either. I generally point something out or ansk a question and how the seller responds dictates how things go. This car could get really expensive for someone.

Done.
Hopefully this car finds a good home where these things can be taken care of - without costing the buyer a TON of $$ both in purchase and refurbishment.

Air-conditioned rear window.

Door latch buffers are $10 ea now and black so I can see why they were left off. Of course the doors are about a foot back from the front fenders so they might not fit.

I also don't like to point out on BaT comments things in a negative sense, but when the seller is also the restorer, prospective buyers need to know this car is not ready to be driven.

@HB Chris the steering column is a fine spline E28 column (both top and bottom column trim is plastic, you can tell by the hub on the steering wheel as well). I think the pedal bracket must be from an E12 or pre 9/82 E24 which is the only way that intake manifold would fit.

Just noticed there's no radiator fan, which makes the lack of windshield washer parts that I previously noticed seem fairly benign. That radiator looks much deeper than stock, but no fan? No pictures of an electric one behind the grille either.

Glad to see I am not the only one seeing issues here. Like others, I refrain from negative comments on BAT, but I saw some instant red flags. The gaps for everything on this car are off. The doors, trunk, hood, and I noticed the spare cover and gas tank cover are not either. Is this car straight? Sure does not look it. Also, are those exposed fuel lines running under the car? I then looked at the Sahara E9 that is also up for auction, that car looks very straight in comparison.

Agree with all your comments. I looked at this listing and was not at all impressed by so many elements that indicate the "restorer" has no eye towards quality. This one will require a lot of work to put right.

Re-posting here. The floor pan replacement work is indicative of a dangerous lack of detail. It is evident that the floor is not fastened to the frame rails as it should be. I fear the buyer/driver of this car will be hurt by even the smallest fender bender - if not simply driving over a speed bump. The seat belts are useless as installed. Isn't there some level of oversight for selling such a car on BaT? Does this car even have a clear title, or is it salvage?

Instead of posting negative comments on the BaT site, would it be unethical to suggest people review the thread that discusses this car on the e9 forum site? Maybe with a link?
