Progress

Well today was able to get some buffing done on the new paint job I did.
Couple runs dealt with then wet sand with 800,then 1500, then 3000 grit. And compound buff. Only had time to do the hood.

Also in progress is replacement of the heater fan motor. Removing the fan assembly was simple. Removing the fan from the motor wasn’t to bad. A new motor is enroute. From what I can tell it’s the same fan motor used in Porsche 911 and others.

Ok new fan motor came in. Exactly the same part as the old one.
Installed just the same.
The clips are a little tricky to put on but very doable.
Installed and hooked up wires and runs perfectly.

Well thanks! I used PPG Paint for the
re-spray.... they had the code 42 Baikal in their system.

Rear trunk emblem.
Couldn’t find anew one so at least made it better than it was.

Haven’t updated lately.
Waistline trim is on.
Repaired driver seat good enough till I can find the correct saddle color embossed material.
Repaired a head rest the same.
And almost ready to pull m30b35 out of an 88 735i.

After much thought a red 9 blade fan and clutch and new water pump is installed.
The old spring type clutch had failed and unable to locate another one.
Small modification to original pulley and all’s well.

I'm about to have the same done to my 2800CS. What modification to the pulley were you talking about?

Was the blower motor another example of " NLA from BMW or really $$$" so go to Porsche or MB? I got some MB and Porsche parts in my 3.0, exactly the same but available and cheaper.

At this point I forget if I even checked availability. I did see some listed somewhere in the 500 range if I remember. But I’m a fix it guy so I looked for parts and found this motor to be the same thing.

And actually even though listed as a Porsche part it should also be listed as bmw part. Same part numbers.

Well this is getting closer....
