Bez,

What part numbers did you end up ordering (I assume you got the one piece base/emblem and the gasket)? And where from?

J

I received "747". It indeed has an integrated base. It is raised letter and painted (not enamel).

Hey Rob, did you uncover anything on this?

I have two different raised letter badges...

00095 808 103 NOS and one used nice patina would rate it an "8"

the used one has a FLL marking on it, the NOS one does not....not sure exactly what they fit, but i picked them up cheap and they are hard to find old school raised letters for any of the vintage BMW cars.....

Sorry, I was referring to your knowing of some people in Germany that can re-enamel the badges.

Correct REPLACEMENT hood(bonnet)/trunk(boot) roundels

Thought this may be of interest to those wanting to replace their old, worn-

Hood Roundel:The original was in 2 pieces: I am not sure what the part number for the roundel is but it is NLA. Roundel 51 14 5 480 181 which is RAISED letter and die-cast painted metal is supposed to be the replacement if you have the separate base (socket) 51 14 5 780 170.

Of note....I ordered "181" to use with an original "170" base and it was just slightly larger diameter (by a millimeter) to fit into the indentation in the socket.

REPLACEMENT hood roundel with an integrated base: 51 14 5 081 747 is RAISED letter and PAINTED.

Trunk Emblem: The original was in 3 pieces: Roundel 51 14 1 813 833 is NLA. The Base 51 14 5 780 171 and Gasket 51 14 5 780 172 are available.

REPLACEMENT trunk roundel with an integrated base: 51 14 1 872 327 is SMOOTH and ENAMEL.

Gasket use with trunk roundel replacement

The original trunk roundel was 3 pieces: Roundel 51 14 1 813 833 is NLA. The Base 51 14 5 780 171 and Gasket 51 14 5 780 172 are available.

Has anyone used the Rubber Gasket "172" with the REPLACEMENT which has an integrated base 51 14 1 872 327?

Stevehose: Can you please kindly post a pic with ruler to show diameter of the gasket you have. (To determine if it is smaller, same size, or larger than "327".

Thanks

The gasket is not perfectly round so at different points it varies from 86 to 90mm outside diameter with the little raised lip being about 1mm wide and tall.

Stevehose: Can you please kindly post a pic with ruler to show diameter of the gasket you have. (To determine if it is smaller, same size, or larger than "327".

Thanks

a correction to this wrong information

Thought this may be of interest to those wanting to replace their old, worn-

error:

Trunk Emblem: The original was in 3 pieces: Roundel 51 14 1 813 833 is NLA. The Base 51 14 5 780 171 and Gasket 51 14 5 780 172 are available.

roundel, part 51141813833:

1- it IS available
2- it is a trunk roundel with integrated curved base
3- it is aluminium painted, black is satin, but White and blue are matt
4- IMHO a good reproduction for 20 euro at the dealer

base 171: available

gasket 172: NLA

Anyone manage to find a source for the hood badge and the base? I really would like to pick up a proper original badge and base!

I have the hood roundel part that BMW of South Atlanta sells on my car. This part, ending in 747, is an integrated aluminum piece with the Roundel and Base.

If you find a proper hood base, this is not the Roundel that goes with it.

I have a new NOS non-chinnese roundel and a used base that is just collecting dust. Its been in my toolbox for 20 years. Let me know if there is any interest and I'll post photos. I hope it is the right one. Raised letters and logo, recessed color. I also have a cloisinne (butchered spelling?) rear quarter emblem from my 2000CS days. I wonder if anyone knows where my old 66 2000CS is these days.

Sorry for the delayed response. It is 000 958 08 103 and is new, raised letter. Does not seem to fit the front ring. Not sure what it goes to now. No # on the flat front base, or the curved back one.

My older ones are 000 958 08 114 and 18 11 992.4 I have a used front ring, and used curved rear ring it has a gasket under it. I think it goes to Lloyds car now that he has it back.

Also have a 2000CS C-pillar with a bent threaded rod with a surface imperfection, not a chip. Faded metal letters.
