BTW do you know where the Barcelona car (2800) is now ?
i know who knows...;-)
Are you referring to the first car which was registered in Barcelona?
comm. 350/2: BMW 2800 GTS Frua Coupé (E 9)
presently in the BMW Classic collection in Munich (Germany)
www.pietro-frua.de/1969_bmw2800.htm#Comm.%20350/2
Coincidentally BMW started with its restoration today.

Stefan,

Thank you for your Frua registry, what wonderful research and history for us all.

I bought a set of Campagnolo wheels two years ago from a car dealer and although he told me they were apparently originally on a special E9, I just wanted them because they were perfect of the era, I looked a little for the wheels on a car on the web, but no luck, so they sit proudly on my wall - they are of this style, but exact ?????, we shall see.

Ok, just seen the post from Chris, doesn't look like Campagnolo will be what your looking for

I have now checked, sadly not the ones you need

Peter

according to my source there is another one in east spain, i am not an expert, though
That sounds interesting. There are two more Frua one-offs which are lost and might be in Spain:
  • Comm. 374: 1975 BMW 3.0 Si Frua Coupé
  • Comm. 375: 1976 BMW 528i GT Frua Coupé
Can you get more info from your source or bring me into contact with him?

OK, we don't want to disturb his privacy. History can wait.
Anyway, Frua built only two 2800. As 350/2 is in the BMW classic collection, the car in Barcelona can only be 350/3 which is lost since Charlie Richardson offered it in 1987. Perhaps he sold it to Barcelona?

Now a difficult question. We know, that the E9 turning lights with which BMW 3.0 S Frua Coupé barn find from Madrid (350/4, see photos in post #9) are not the originals, which it had in 1972. But from which production car did Frua take the originals (see photos below). Can anyone identify them?

I always get confused between the ATS and the Cromodora's...thinking ATS here...they make a handsome Volvo 164 look elegant. Saw a set on a Schwartz e9 for sale in DC area a long time ago...Mmm.

Turning lights remind me the ones used on the Iso Grifo, but those are smaller.

Lorenzo, though these are not the turning lights of 350/4 it is nevertheless a good find. These are the turning lights of the sister car 350/2, see the following photo with its creator Pietro Frua at the Frankfurt Motor show 1969. They were manufactured by Carello for the f ollowing cars: Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider, De Tomaso Mangusta, Glas GT, Iso Rivolta IR 300/340/Grifo and Siata Spring.

After some hours of research I finally identified the turn signals as those of the 1967 Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce Bertone Coupé (= 1750 GTV, 1st series 1967-1969, tipo 105.44).

Sure! I made a research also on the Alfa GT but on wrong model.
Some vintage Alfa's rear lights were used on many limited production italian GT of the period..
