Hey guys! Haven’t posted anything in the forum in a while but I’ve been having issues with tuning my Weber carbs correctly for the Bavaria, (can see attached pictures), when we turn the car on, there’s a loud pinging coming from the engine which is pretty concerning. The carbs were rebuilt just a couple of months ago, but the car simply won’t stay alive at idle, it needs gas or it will just die and it pings when we give it gas, I can also thing of 3problem areas 1. When I put gas in here well over two months ago, it was 87 octane, so the gas is wrong and since the gas has been sitting it’s probably messing things up 2. When I bought the car, it was backfiring (hence why I had the carbs rebuilt) so maybe even something exhaust related? 3. The lean mixture screw is not really having an effect (or at least the one I thought it would) I think next time I try I might need to get a video of it to show you guys The pinging was in the engine but the backfire was from the carb Honestly any and all advice is very, very much appreciated from you guys. Markos sent me a helpful link which I am also watching but also nervous to mess anything more up. This is my first project car so I am not the most technical, I would be willing to pay any member nearby willing to come to help me out, or if anyone knows any good mechanics/shops in the area I could perhaps go to. Thanks for reading! Edit: The car idled before although it was rough. The plan was to tune the car from the beginning again due to new spark plugs. After not being able to get the car to idle properly we turned to back to the original position we started at with the rough idle and the car still wouldn't idle.
