What did you do to your E9 today?

Washed and clayed. Still looks good for a 30+ yo paint job.

Checked under the cam cover. Everything seems to be in place.

Trunk Elephant Skin spacers were finally found and installed.
Several years ago,I discovered that the gap on the outer side of the rear wheel housings was covered with crescent-shaped elephant skin spacers. The right side of our USA cars has the vapor canister bracket that prevents a full spacer from fitting in the gap. I cut out the bracket and installed a right-side spacer I bought. Finding the left-side spacer was a little more difficult. Carlos dug into his 50-year supply of all things BMW and found the correct left-side spacer. I painted it with SEM Storm Gray and the gap is now filled.

Spend 20 hours to mount the 6 Celette brackets on 4 massive steel tube sections, trying to get them all centered, vertical and parallel.

I think i have them within 0,5mm of BMW's spec.

Now all that's left is to space them correctly on 2 long beams and fit 4 coaster wheels. (Another 20 hours?)

This is the only photo I took at The Vintage at Saratoga. Original Factory Works Number 59 CSL, Left to right, Kevin Ladd (owner), Jack Deren (original mechanic) & Joe Rodriguez (built an S38 Group 5 CSL from scratch)

We drove Athena cross lots missing the Friday Tour & Meet & Greet Dinner. Made the most of Saturday, Sunday morning was breakfast. Stayed with friends for 2 days due to my continuing back problems. Drove to Pittsburgh for a Niece's Wedding October 19th.

Athena is safely below the hotel in the parking garage.
