What did you do to your E9 today?

Here are pictures of Gregg and Redmond at Homestead Speedway and when he signed my #59 model at the Highlands Motoring Festival.

Reupholster the dashboard cover new due to 2 small cracks.

That was the last thing to do.

Spend 20 hours to mount the 6 Celette brackets on 4 massive steel tube sections, trying to get them all centered, vertical and parallel.

I think i have them within 0,5mm of BMW's spec.

Now all that's left is to space them correctly on 2 long beams and fit 4 coaster wheels. (Another 20 hours?)
Looks very accurate the way you fit this.

I can just barely post in this thread, because the E9 isn't entirely mine anymore. But I still have (4) pallets of parts that are getting ready to ship to a buyer in California. In order to fit more concisely, I opted to disassemble the complete rear subframe assembly and I was shocked at what I saw. The rear suspension is something I hadn't started to refurbish yet and it is weird that I am "working on it" now.

From an outward appearance, everything looked very "crusty". But as I took it apart, it seemed that the crust was merely surface crust - likely from the humid Florida environment. Underneath were absolutely beautiful bolts, threads, painted surfaces - amazing. Good news for the buyer. Does this look "original"? Or maybe the earmarks of a good shop before the car came to me?

The plating on the trailing arm bolts. Even the trailing arm bushings look relatively fresh.

Clean, shiny, and well cared for rear stub axles. Is that factory paint, or the work of a good shop?

Even the bolts that held the final drive onto the subframe are beautiful on the inside (crusty looking on the outside. Look at the threads in the final drive even.

Clean paint under the beefy ST rear sway bar bushing.

Another bitter sweet moment. Farewell sweet Raven.

I took the Bavaria, it will always be just "The Bavaria" for a long drive today. It had been sitting for at least two weeks while I dealt with a friend's 1973 2002 I am selling for him.

It was a lovely, sunny, warmish day in Bucks County, perfect for a warm up drive before tomorrow's Rocket Dog drive. So far seven cars and counting. Quite a variety, will post some photos tomorrow.

If you are wondering about the '02 here are a couple of teasers. Long copy ad and lots of photos to follow soon.

1973 Atlantik, Italian delivery, all the euro bits, 95,000 pampered miles. Amazing original condition from the headliner to the undercarriage.

Steve

Did some restoration TIG welding activity’s. Restored one of the non-BMW loudspeakers holes. Difficult was slope of the metal plate.

leaved e9 resting
no car today, almost winter...
Jesus- I left Pontevedra this afternoon, heading to Heulva tomorrow in a 4 series Grand Coupe.
Light rain all weekend in Pontevedra. Maybe you can navigate the hotel parking instructions for me?

IMPORTANT: Once you pass the control, turn first left (you will see a train to the driver's left), then first right (you will see a language academy to the driver's left) and, going straight (you will pass through a nuns' convent and a bar called 1900), you will see a P indicative of our parking lot and the hotel in the yellow background. Press the doorman located to the right of the door and our staff will give you access to the parking lot.
