There are apparently 3 different versions of the 5 hole Alpina wheels (all relatively rare and the correct wheel for a CSL, followed by a 10 hole version (the most prevalent). in the 5 hole versions the location of the ALPINA logo in relation to the valve stem hole tends to vary. if the valve stem hole is at "6:00", the 3 versions of ALPINA have appeared at 11:30 / 2:00 and 7:00. as you see on the one with the BMW logo, the ALPINA is at 2:00. the entire set that was just sold were all at 2:00 and were manufactured 4/73. so not only should you look for a set that has the same date code, you want to be sure that the ALPINA / valve stem hole is consistent.

version 1 - no bmw logo - p/n 2800206 / no KBA number - this is correct for the Carb CSL
1605025275783.png

version 2 - no bmw logo - p/n 2800200 or xx206 / KBA # 1110344 - this is correct for the 2275xxx CSL - the overall pic of this wheel had the alpina logo at '2:00'
1604971749262.png

this v2 wheel has the alpina logo at '11:30'
1605024668563.png

the late version - with BMW logo - alpina p/n 2800206 / KBA #1110345 - these wheels came on the BAT cars (my understanding is that the date code started in early 1973 for these. the one below i believe is 4/73, and the alpina logo is at '2:00' - i have seen pics of the v3 wheels at 11:30 / 2:00 / 7:00
1604971979532.png

1605024759261.png

it has also been brought to my attention that the center of the v3 wheel should be gray, not black - this v3 wheel also has alpina at 2:00
1605024817359.png

and finally, there is the 10 hole Alpina wheel the attached image was made by Ronal for Alpina in 1975. Alpina has also acknowledged the production of an Alpina wheel by FPS that has an engraved Alpina. (the wheel is still in current production by BBS - sold by W+N and a few others)

had a few moments on my hands and had collected images over the years ... so i just put them all in a place where we can all find them. i really like this FAQ section that our forum leaders put together so its easier to find some of these often searched for threads. thanks @Markos and @HB Chris

BBS RS 001's are a 4 x 100 wheel and are 15" diameter. these are wheels for 2002 or e21 / e30. they have 30 bolts. the 005 / 006 have 34 bolts. now it it possible to fill the holes and drill new holes .. this is done all the time by Ehrlich to create wheels for e30's / e21 + 2002.

@rsporsche ,

Posts are split. Please bear with me while I update the attachments. When you clone posts, it doesn't clone the attachments. Rather, it shares the same attachment. I'll need to re-add the images, and may need your help. PM later today. This should be all fixed up by this evening. Now we have room to add significantly more content to each size wheel. I didn't add an 18" section. :D

Here are the pics I sent to Victor of the BBS Mahle wheels 16X7" ET11 on the original lug studs. Thought you could use them with this wheel FAQ.

@rsporsche,

Clearing up any ideas about running 8x16 ET23. As video highlights, you still get rubbing with a 3MM spacer. This also means that an 8x16 ET20 with no spacer would also be an issue.

@Markos ... in 16" wheels, i an a proponent of 7" front wheels / 8" rear wheels. only in 17" wheels can an 8" work up front ... based on @vince experience. i have gone back and added a note to the one 16 x 8 et 23 wheel (style 5 - one piece) that it is rear only, and labled the 16 x 7 as front

Totally agree. You see these wheels on e9’s quite a bit. I’ll be buying some 6mm spacers. These are rollers and I can’t have them rubbing. The 225 tire also rubs the exhaust out back.

New 205 tires are too small for the car and the wheels are all wrong for an "L" but they don't look half bad. These are 15X7 ATS , not sure what the offset is. Tires were 225/50 15s all the way around with camber plates maxed out and cut springs. It's low....

@tferrer - 225/50-15" tires are almost 1" in diameter too small - only 23.9" diameter. here are the recommended sizes in 15" which more closely correlate to the 24.7" diameter of the 195/70-14" original tire

205/60-15 -– dia. 24.7”, width 8.2" / tread width 6.8", circ. 77.6”, rev / mile = 842
215/60-15 -- dia. 25.1", width 8.7" / tread width 7.3", rev / mile = 827
225/55-15 – dia. 24.7”, 77.7” circ, rev / mile = 842 <caution - tire is 9" wide - not many tires available in this size>

There's no performance tires and more importantly, there's no wheel well space for that diameter. The springs were cut. Like I said, it's low. It'll go back to a more normal height in a bit...
