What did you do to your E9 today?

Oh yeah, been there. But we just wanna get the job done, right?
Today, I installed the final piece into my Coupe before I hit the streets. Been long time up on jack stands. Back in August, I was waiting in the queue, for my turn at the restoration shop of great acclaim, and then the call came in. They did a masterful job, repairing my passenger side floor, and then well, all the floors, because that is the way they do it, and then it was back to me.
Excellent opportunity to take that heater out, most would say, except that this is such an "expletive-of-choice" kinda job. But 49 years in, it was time. New Bowden cables, new foam around the core, new radiator. Then settled in to sorting wires under the dash, getting the sunroof working again, insulating the floor with Hushmat, then added DEI Engineering heat/sound insulation, cleaned up and reinstalled my original carpets, rewired the radio and amplifier wires to great results, removed, stripped, cleaned up, repainted and reinstalled outer rocker panels, cavity wax everywhere there was an opportunity. Put the passenger side seat in today, because I could back the car out onto the less soggy lawn ( it is almost April at LAST) and open the door the maximum amount to allow the install of the giant, and increasingly heavier, seat. It is in! Once I get a chance to wash the 6 months of shop dust of off my Coupe, I will finally hit the street again. Cannot WAIT!

Big fan of Firestone Walker when I can get it.
Installed my side view mirror after 20 years of not being able to get my fingers up there.
Then installed the Mercedes door stop. Now, I’m off to ride my bike then door the door stop on the other side. Need to keep the wife happy and not having to hold on to the door during windy days and on inclines. LOL

Adjusted the air pressure on Athena, Vern, Veronika & the Unicorn X3. The road salt has been rained away & the street sweepers are are busy gathering sand. The Peeper Frogs are singing so Spring is springing! Still blustery here in the Perpetual Winterlands, the last of the snow is gone except from the parking lot mountains.
Installed the coupe king armrest supports. Brilliant solution.
Unfortunately, nothing. Rather, we spent a knuckle busting 8 hours doing a rear brake job on Amy's (crusty, 13 year old) Jeep Wrangler.
I like to consider myself a "car guy". I tell people this, and I like how it sounds. But when presented with the idea of doing the brakes on Amy's Jeep, I had reservations. Heck, I flat out said it sounded terrible. This conflicted with my self-proclaimed "car guy" persona. But frankly, I hated doing this job on her Jeep. Every bolt fought us. We could have finished hours sooner, but decided that since we had it apart we should fix her e-brakes which have never worked since she got the car. The components were frozen solid in a metal/rust sandwich. Getting them out was a chore. Cleaning them up was another chore. Putting it all back together was several hours of pure torture. As a guy that likes to restore things, for a moment I wanted to further to clean these parts, properly plate them, and make the whole system like new. But that was not the agenda. Thank goodness!
Paying a local shop to do this would have been so much easier. But I also know we never would have found someone to thoroughly clean and free up the e-brakes. Or if we did, the work would have cost more than the car!
Looking forward to getting back to the e9!

Well I paid my money in the parking meter and walking back to the car I thought........geee that looks good at this angle so I thought I would take a pic.
Installed the final 3D printed prototype wiper motor cover.
Brilliant solution,indeed! Both of my plastic top pieces were broken and had an epoxy jerry-rig fix. Using the supports on better plastic pieces then covered in matching tan leather has my armrests secured to the door panels.
Thanks to your help with the Glasurit Turkis metallic paint, I recently did the same after parking the coupe on the street.

Been off the road and garaged for 28 years. Not a Tii, but has a Tii engine. Apparently, the POs couldn’t get the KFisch system working correctly and parked it.
Came with all the parts and a bunch of new parts, too; including original seats and a 3.91 LSD. I’m confident I’ll have it running in short order..

Been off the road and garaged for 28 years. Not a Tii, but has a Tii engine. Apparently, the POs couldn’t get the KFisch system working correctly and parked it.
Came with all the parts and a bunch of new parts, too; including original seats and a 3.91 LSD. I’m confident I’ll have it running in short order..
