Took my ECU to the shop to get tested, inconsistant functioning of the injectors.

Still not Coupe stuff, but related...

Old single stage paint can be resurrected with careful, multi-step polishing. I never would have guessed this paint would respond so well... it was very stained and had lots of contaminants embedded in it. I had to use a real clay bar on the hood after the first round of compounding it. It had some black specks all over it. Finally got those off and was able to polish it out. The trunk and roof also took considerable effort. I still have a lot to do, but it will shine up. :)

Almost 5 hours to do the trunk lid, roof, and 1/2 the hood...

My fuse compartment door button was very difficult to push to open ever since I bought the car. I found an E3 door with the button on EBay. The seller sold me just the button.
The catch in the compartment had to be removed, straightened, and adjusted a few times to get the door to open and close correctly. With the original button now in my hand, I still can't figure out why the button when pushed will not open smoothly.
The right front wheel bearing needed to have the castellated nut tightened one cotter pin hole to take out a slight wobble. The W&N front crossed drilled rotors were checked for out of round with a run-out gage. They were both only .003" out. The brakes now pull slightly to the right and those were the first tests. W&N now is selling new front calipers for ventilated rotors. That is the next project along with the metal-covered flexible hoses that W&N also sells. And I might as well buy the blue braided brake hose to dress up the engine compartment.
To be continued

Went for my first long distance drive last week, about 110 miles. Mechanically flawless.........but the damn sunroof. It died suddenly. I checked the fuse, then the power and then pulled the motor and transmission, hooked it to a 12 V source and it worked fine. Re-installed, then worked, then died. Why did I clean the entire fuse holder and all contacts and replace all fuses with new ones when I bought the car 5 years ago......... except #10. It was intact but ends were making intermittent contact. I was on my hands and knees dealing with that fuse box......my neighbor thought I was praying and I kinda was.

Wow great results! I had a Malaga '74. Very faded. took it to a specialist who said "don't bother". Eventually tried a mobile detailer, and he did get that old paint to show some sheen, but it did not last. Good news, it rains a lot here, so paint would often, look, well, shiny!

Drove it! Finally, a sunny warm, dry day. Have finished my long list of improvements I started in August, and was ready for a test drive. Felt amazing! Unlike Bavbob, my sunroof worked today. First time in 4 years! With console, heater, under dash panels out I was able to re-org the spaghetti system that was the under dash wiring. All good now. Have so missed driving this Coupe!

I must admit, 4 years ago, I had the under dash panels out, thought I was doing a good thing, cleaning up all ground connections, polishing terminals, proud of my effort. then sunroof did not work. Sad. But today, after some under-the-dash investigative work over the winter, my re-wiring job produced the desired effects. Sunroof opens, and more importantly, sunroof closes Yeah!

To get a nice change from welding and grinding , I started to play with some shiny stuff.
I have 3 assembled and torqued up , with 2 more to go.
The shiny stuff is food for the soul :) I even had time for a coffee.
