I don’t think they are designed to stay up only half way, once mine is all the way up it stays, the stops at each side can be adjusted for full up.
My trunk lid has always stayed up only in the full-up position. Once when all of the tools were in it, the lid wanted to close quite fast unless it was in that full-up position.

last year I had the same incident, the lid came back and cut my right temple (bloody hell).
I remember, there is something which can be adjusted, I think it is the final open position. I adjusted it so, that it is more open (more upright) and this way it holds the end position better.

I removed my fingerprints.
Yep I sanded off my own finger prints.
I spent hours sanding down the paint in the rain trough below the windscreen by hand .
I thought my fingers felt a bit tingly towards the end alright.
I was stripping the engine bay to get it ready for a few coats of etch primer.
After finishing up for the evening I noticed that my fingers were very very smooth.
Then I could not get into my phone …, It couldn’t recognise my print , I’d sanded it flat .
:):rolleyes::)

Is that an early Euro e24 in front of your coupe?
Omess, yes it is an E24, US specification 1987. A “practice” restoration before the 3.0cs.

I have no love for the E24. It is for sale, find a buyer! Lots of photographs available.
Many polished nuts like the 3.0 cs.I’d love to see it go to a good owner.

Fingerprints are good when you're unlocking your phone, bad when committing burglaries. I say look on the bright side and go on a crime spree! Who among us hasn't dreamt of being a safe cracker or a cat burglar?

P.S. I hope they grow back soon. (Is that how it even works?)

Since the 11th of February I have been climbing in and out of my engine bay and today I took my latest photos of her with 2 coats of etch primer and 3 coats of high build primer.
I’m delighted to start to actually see some progress at long last.

Drove it on its maiden voyage 140Kms w/ new heart!
It has almost been a year since last behind wheel. Felt great.

...then the starter went out the next morn in my driveway.

Joy....
