What did you do to your E9 today?

Put all of the instrument cluster back in after having cleaned all of the glass internally a few weeks ago. I installed LED lights per the really nice write up @coupesport did over the last few weeks (see https://e9coupe.com/forum/threads/a...tion-now-with-photos.49230/page-2#post-434095 . Hopefully looks good when I power it all up - right now battery isn’t fully installed. Took a while, and one tip is to replace the odometer reset cable BEFORE putting the speedometer back in - it’s near impossible to do once it is in.

+1 to the Reset Cable!
Yes, the car had been delivered to me with this cable disconnected, so good to have it back in commission. That reassembly just took longer than expected. Another tip - masking tape over the front glass of each dial so that you can flip them back and forth around the various obstacles back there without worrying about causing scratches

I guess this is more than just one day, but completed the move of battery to trunk. After adding relays for fog lights, primary headlights, the second set of horns that previous owner had installed and I decided to keep, along with running a power cable for amp and stereo, the battery area was looking too much like Medusa in the original Clash of the Titans. So I moved the battery to the trunk using some useful info other members had posted here. In an effort to keep that battery area looking clean, however, I used my rudimentary welding skills to weld a small box to cover it up. Someone at one point suggested (@Mike Goble perhaps) using an empty battery box to hold all of this stuff. I didn’t have access to an original white battery so decided to mimic that. Welded this, powder coated it, and decided to add an emblem on top just for a little pizzazz. I’m pleased with how it looks and it makes accessing the oil filter a bit easier. Please ignore the state of the engine and bay - it’s in preparation for removal prior to repainting and refurbishing.

No pics on my activities today -
It was a nice day (more or less) in the Seattle area, so took the Coupe out for a spin.
As I was driving along, the earlier discussion on mechanics local to Seattle (for looking at a transmission) got me thinking that I had not seen John at Car Tender in a while (and he had never seen the Coupe) so...
I stopped by for a visit.

While there, took a look at a customers car in for service... 1975(?) 3.3Li (imported from Norway a couple of years ago I think). Was Fjord and looked really nice.
Interior was decent. Automatic... Overall - one of the nicest E3's I have seen in a LONG time (other than at a BMW gathering).

Drove down and back on the freeway. This car (with the M90 and 5sp) more than keeps pace with traffic. :)

Some thoughts -
I am getting ~20mpg with the M90 and some decently spirited driving. The original 2.8L with Zeniths would get max of 24mpg the few times I bothered to check. I really don't think 20 isn't bad for the increase in power that I have now.
I do really want to get a 3rd brake light to help me be seen just that much better.
Radio? What radio.... LOL
Heater works :)
Received a few thumbs up from folks, none from any BMW drivers though. Figures... LOL
All were from folks driving older cars... including what looked to be a high school age girl in a 1980's Ford who evidently has good taste. LOL Too funny...

Agree, it was a beautiful day in Seattle, perfect day for a drive. I'm looking forward to getting mine completed to get it out there!

Building my own Celette bench that supports and anchors my BMW e9 on factory measurements and secure undamaged sections to stay in place during the restoration. Took a lot of time to build and measure !! (Not only this day).

The blue painted adopters I made by myself. The towers are the Celette MZ 22 towers on top of a Celette type 7 bench.
Surprising to see how some parts match.
Today some extra floor beam supports.
