Added sway bar from Mark Pepke. Thanks Mark!

Tighten and go.

Used yellow paint to mark the bolts/nuts to make for a quick visual inspection for tightness.

One more time on Megasquirt tuning and maybe it will be roadworthy.

Then I can sort out all of the other teething problems. Let’s wish for the best.

Me, yes. Look forward to having a beer with you.

Car, not likely. One more round(hopefully) with Megasquirt before it is on the road.

See the ground strap on this old alternator core?

Very important on a non-grounded alternator, less the battery looses its charge and all your megasquirt tuning for the day goes away when the car dies.

One step forward, two steps back.

New alternator (with ground strap) installed and, guess what, the batteries see 13.8 volts when the engine is running.

I am a genius.

The cost of this lesson : About $1000: two lithium style batteries, two AGM batteries, two tuning sessions, two alternators.

E9 alternators have a solid mount with no rubber bushings so a ground was never installed, on a 2002 it is absolutely needed.

Thanks Chris. Reference: information on solid mount and original E9 car.

I work on E30's all the time, solid mount.

When you do an M88 swap with E30 brackets and a new/reman isolated alternator, you make mistakes.

This one is a learning moment for me (and the audience) when you may be tempted to mix -and-match parts from various BMWs.

Beautiful stainless steel, 3” oval exhaust has proven to be too loud.

Solution: Cut and weld in s/s baffles. Wish us luck with the three baffles we are welding into place.
