70 - 2800CS - 2270111 restoration - ode to the past

This would be funny if it weren’t so tragic. No wonder the USPS is such a joke.

This is the hazard switch I ordered well… over two weeks ago.

Reminder… I live near Akron Ohio

Just saop water nothing else....
There is no need for straps or other stuff.... just a light pressure with a flat hand at the already snap in areas.

That’s great if you have an extra helper… I did not. The strap is my extra helper.

I didn’t have much time yesterday unlike I had planned… silly work issues… but I attempted the windshield… go around number one was a failure. I have to adjust my rope placement… bottom popped out when I went around the top. It’s a learning thing… I’ll get there.

Well apparently I didn't use enough the first three times... Fourth attempt was the charm here.

Employing just about every trick I could throw at it.

Thanks goodness 4 was enough... That seal was not making it through one more attempt. I would call the quality of that seal not very good... Tons and tons and tons of mold release all over it. I cleaned it three or four times and the crap is still on there... Flaking off everywhere.

The back one seems fine. I got them both from Stefan

Opps.. forgot to add. The upper right corner of the trim popped up a bit... Not out but definitely not in all the way.

Not sure how I am going to handle that.

A little 'personal lubricant' is a great thing to use on the rubber seal...helps it slide right in...then, because it's water based, it disappears. I recommend 'Astroglide'..;)
That is what it should do
disappearing after the glass is in his place.
Otherwise you have a permanent moving glas in the rubber.

That cause worn paint worth the time.

So a few updates…

Replaced the alternator with the Bosch AL660N as noted elsewhere… the had to rewire it yesterday due to wrong internet instructions…. Shocker I know. Had to put a switched circuit in. Not sure why it worked for a minute and then didn’t without this wire.

Shakedown runs have been plagued with issues. Mostly minor. Yesterday’s was pretty serious. We have had mufflers come loose (carry zip ties always) small things pop off. Seals shifting etc. mostly annoying and usual for shake downs. The gas pedal broke… knew I should have replaced it.

Yesterday after fixing the alternator I decided to do another run… then experienced the dreaded brake lock up. Pedal got super hard and the front calipers would not release. Took a while but I limped home after repeatedly stopping to relieve the pressure.

I am sure that the adjustment rod is too long… will get in there today and get it fixed. But I’m more concerned with the damage to the rotors and pads. I am sure they are toast… we will see. I may be able to get the rotors skimmed. I also lost two center caps. Major bummer of a day.
