Still got a LOT of flatting and polshing to do as well as trimming the edges to get it sitting perfect, but not coming out too badly imo.

Bit more progress on the ducktail. About 13 hours into it now, and halfway done. Once i've finished blocking it down ill trim it and then finish it off

Bonnet coated in epoxy primer now

Picked up the remainder of the manifold bits from Daddywad. Omex 45mm ITBs on order

Steering wheel sticker from Pukar Designs

Got a rear wheel test fitted up aswell. No clearance issues which i'm happy with as I was a bit worried with the rear offset.

Boot now off the car and being stripped to bare metal. Hopefully next month I can started getting the repair panels for the inner wings

Build is taking a break whilst the mk1 gets built up.

In the meantime, managed to source a complete Getrag 265 set up with only 21k on it from new, wheels are all built up. Hoping to get properly into it again come winter time

Making a start on the O/S inner wing and bulkhead area, few repairs that have been done in the past visible there. Picked up a few W+N pieces from @Marc-M and @Sportster cheers guys! In need of the thick stamped strut support if anyone has one available for purchase

Make sure you have the door installed and test fit the fender before you weld it in place.

I spot welded a strip behind the but weld at the front of the fender. This held everything in place while I MIG welded the fender to the nose. My welding skills were not good enough to just but weld the fender.

That's my plan anyway, did a big buy of clecos to help out with the positioning of everything before it all gets welded in place.

Amazing how well these cars keep on going being that rusted.
Has anyone seen a coupe crack apart on the road?

Great work on the restoration!

That carbon fibre ducktail look amazing. Did you "wrap" a plastic ducktail in carbon fibre and just put epoxy on it or did you make it from scratch?

One I picked up from @daddywad that i skinned in carbon, didn't come out as well as i'd hoped so will re do it at some point

Few more bits done today. Bottom of the inner sill has some perforation from the sill side. Intermediate sill has some mild to severe corrosion at the bottom from the a pillar reinforcement area, whether it's worth repairing or buying a new sill piece I'll have to see later. Overall pretty pleased with how things are inside the sills, once the floor and bulkhead area is all welded up I'll brace and get stuck into them.

Now moved onto stripping the sills down and reinforcing ready to chop out the inner sill, then get the intermediary sill and reinforcements installed before anything else. Waiting on the front strut reinforcements to be put into production before work continues on the inner wing.

Got a few hours in this afternoon after work. Majority of the inner sill had surface rust, so will be getting cleaned and treated. Then it's time to align everything, going to attempt to align everything on the car and fix into place, then remove and spot weld the reinforcements and outer sill to the intermediary, the the tops to the inner and bottom of the outer to the inner sill. Saves me having to drill dozens of spot weld holes and minimises clean up.

Middle sill and a and B posts spot welded to each other and coated in a hefty load of electrox zinc primer. Outer sill was then welded to it and the whole assembly was then spot welded to the car. This method saved having to drill and plug weld the lower half of the outer sill to the middle. A few welds to finish with the MIG but hardest part is over, not as much of a struggle as I thought it would be! Started stripping the door back to bare metal, check out the thickness of that paint!

Drivers door welded up now ready for primer, lower quarter panel repair welded in place, outer arch and rear lower quarter in and ready for welding once the inner arch is finished. Check out the sheer amount of filler on the rear valance!

Amazing build. I'm always amazed to see how you and others work out the geometry so precisely, considering much of the original structure is gone!
