One more question- which oil pan and oil pump did you use?
you have a pic of your spare pump? Pic of your oil pan.

you have internet? Can you do zoom meeting?

Ah right.

To fit an E9, you need an E9 oil pan as well as the pickup.

Not sure about the oil pump itself whether you use the B35 or original B28/B30 oil pump.

I've heard those B35 oil canisters can have bad oil drainback valve issues.

I say, plug the hole and get an early top-bolt canister. Like the one on the right there (one on the left is the really old bottom bolt; more of a PITA):

Rob….. have you ever installed an early oil pump in a m30b35?
A b35 oil pump in a b34?
Ever noticed there are different b35 oil housings?
Ever installed a hybrid pump? Know what part of the housing you have to modify with a dremel?
What do you think about the dreaded nut problem they have?
Why do you say you that you have to use an e9 oil pan? Lots of oil pans from different cars fit but we never use a 2800 pan. Why?
Have you seen the 3 different gaskets that can be used, 2 different chains, 3 different gears? Do you know how many millimeters of shims you need when you install a late pump splined shaft into a m90 block?

I would suggest caution in your advice to our friend who has already destroyed one engine and is facing possible destruction of another.

Some advice for you jc971….

if this were my engine in my shop I would drain 1 quart of oil.
Change the entire oil filter/housing unit.
Fill with oil and run for 30 seconds.
Open top and inspect for oil level.

If the level has gone down- change the pump.
You need to install a early pickup can on a b35 oil pump.
I can make you one or tell you how.
Remove sway bar and loosen oil pan.
Close your eyes and take out your pump and replace it and the gasket.
Trust me- you can do it.

I will be in the Turks/Caicos and the DR in February….

I did say:

"Not sure about the oil pump itself whether you use the B35 or original B28/B30 oil pump."

I was planning on using the B35 pump that came with the engine from my 89 535i.

Let's see if my memory is correct: The #1 cylinder con rod hits the B28/B30 pump (unless you grind some of the bolt head away on the pump) and the B28/B30 pan won't clear the E28 pump?

Well, I know the early thru 70 2800 oil pans have no baffles and were subject to a recall due to oil starvation when turning.

I use an E28 oil pan on the B35 in my E3. I keep the B35 pump with the E3 pick-up. I remove the level sending unit and epoxy the hole shut. I also use a top-bolt filter with the built-in backflow check valve. My oil pressure runs about 75# warm at 3000 rpm.
I have a few of the top-bolt filters in my garage. I get them off mid-80's M30's at the local boneyards. If you need one, they're a lot less expensive than the ones on eBay.
The center pan in the pic is the one on my engine.

Hello guys and thank you for your many answers

so yes i have internet but it will be very difficult for me to do a zoom meeting i don't speak english i use google translate .. shame

so I use the original oil pump from the m30b35 but with a longer pickup because I had to change the oil pan to fit into the e9. I don't know exactly which oil pan or which pickup, but they were mounted on an old 3.3 that I had in stock, I will take a picture of the oil pan tonight, it has an internal baffle

rob I have an oil filter jar like the one on the right in the photo, which I also dismantled on the 3.3, my first engine destruction I had to fit this jar without plugging the small hole on the engine block. . beginner's mistake

before reassembling my oil pump I disassembled it, the gears seemed to be in good condition, the pump body too.
so I disassembled the piston and the spring, the piston seemed to be stuck towards the top of the pump, I disassemble it, pass a light sandpaper so that it slides freely and reassemble the spring, I could note that the piston slides in the pump cylinder freely for a short distance before coming to touch the spring, is this normal?

I disassemble part n ° 7 and n ° 8 of the shema to inspect them
n ° 7 seemed to be stuck

I was taught by a Master Mechanic to never touch the oil pump.............

Until the rule of "What did you do last?" that relates to the problem you are having- you better plan on replacing your pump.
Order a new oil pan gasket- you will need it.

Good evening
I cleaned my 2 pumps and I noticed a difference in the discharge valve
first pump: I dismantled it on a 3.3 block
the spring and the piston move freely in the cylinder of the pump by shaking it up and down we hear the movement of the parts, I put a screwdriver in the cylinder and I was able to push the piston quite easily up and down low

the second oil pump was removed on a m30b35 block identical to the one in my e9 currently
the piston seems completely blocked in the cylinder, I tried to make it move with a screwdriver also but nothing to do it does not move I did not press too hard, the piston was stuck in the pump that I reassembled on my car, before I unlock it, maybe my oil pressure problem comes from the .. is it normal that the piston is completely blocked in the pump of 3.5 and free in the pump of 3.3?

you will also see pictures of my oil pan
