the first 2 pics are not relevant for our E9's , they must be "examples" of shocks.
Third one is indeed the insert for our fronts. They go in the front struts with 50cc motoroil between for heat transfer. (cooling)

So, Gary mentioned that we needed 3 of the pieces he is pointing to in this part of the video.

CORRECTED link to start at 6:10 mark where he is pointing at the part:
Does anyone know what Part No that is and I will hunt the part down from there. If there are other part numbers for rubber items, etc. that I should be replacing, let me know.

Seems like getting the shop to give me a list of things to order is like pulling teeth at times. I don't get it. I want to place one more order with everything we need so it doesn't hold things up.

Shocked that they said all the belt trim nuts/bolts are fine, but that's what he said.

Also, they are planning on buying the sound deadening material locally and cut to fit. I know there was a source for this listed above, but confirming that nothing special about getting that from that source vs. at any car repair place.

Thanks very much. I hope everyone is having an awesome weekend.

BTW, planning on driving to Bay Area again in April, through Tahoe and Sacramento. I hope to visit fellow members along the way to show off.

Scott,
Your shop should be able to get good quality sound deadening material. Maybe they will let you have a go of it. It's pretty straightforward to install.
Your doing a good job. Mike

Gary pointed to this piece shown in the image and indicated we need three of these. Anyone have an idea of the part number this relates to and best place to buy it?

that's the differential support... there's only 1 . I think he meant with the other "2" the rubber blocks that hold the rear frame to the chassis. Those are the 3 "main" things to demount the rear frame from the chassis.

I ordered and received 2 similar looking things already, see https://www.wallothnesch.com/catalogsearch/result/?order=name&dir=asc&q=a33333728100, but the 1 thing you show looks right to me. Do you know what other 2 things toward the front he could be talking about?

for StephenZ - that's 3 dash pieces with some significant curved ends, holes cut out ... 4 door pieces and the console bottom piece.
now for the artistry of this - you have 2 pieces on each side (on the doors) and you want the veneer to look like it is continuous from one side of the car across the dash and down the other side of the car.

i'm not sure Scott , perhaps ask him ?

in front we have

2 top bearings/rubbers for the suspension

2 front rubbers for the tie rods

2 rear rubbers for the tie rods

2 rubbers for the lower arm at "pivot" point

Perhaps he noticed one of those items should better be replaced ??

I have asked him, repeatedly. It seems that he would prefer to point, rather than provide a part number or maybe I am just being impatient. Since all of those are rubber, likely could benefit from replacement, and not expensive, I don't mind getting any or all of those things. I will send him images of all these tomorrow along with this list to see if anything else is needed.

    • Inspect and weld Strut towers:

    • ylLdrqUW1paeqHHoLvR8u9X-xwvPkkMK_PpIME3SBEiXzNLB01uGtTiknuAvVJD7HyttchgcjxPZtAAtqBLTXeJUuEQfDMmxykfx3Dc22cZx6P0XnjNS2_4NgQyc328QtZm-xiRn
  • Since the entire roof is used to drain water out, it is critical that we inspect for rust and treat any problem areas and replace all drainage tubes

  • New springs/shocks/struts should be there this week.

    • need to roll your front fender lips while the paint is off. There is a 90° lip inside the fender that can rub against tire sidewalls. this lip needs to be folded up between 10 & 2 o'clock to prevent any tire rubbing.

    • Alignment once done
  • Replace all rubber possible, including fuel and brake lines

    • Please advise if you need me to order
  • Clean/coat gas tank re rust

  • remove all dash and door wood and have Dave Wood or other? Redo to match steering wheel and shift knob color.

  • Any other easy work to do to interior now that windows are out? For example, is it easier to pull the clock out and repair. It stopped working, or anything else.
  • Confirm if belt trim bolts/screws are needed

100% agree that's it's more than my first glance. After actually thinking about the job, they're charging a very reasonable price. Detailed woodwork like that is no joke. I've been knee deep in some of those projects and it takes TIME to do it correctly and for it look perfect. I would definitely do it for a car of my own, no problem, but to charge to do it, wouldn't be worth it for me, even at those prices. With the long veneers I use, the continuous grain is actually pretty straight forward for pieces that thin...when I have to match grain on a 12' long built in walnut office desk system mixing real walnut and veneer, it gets really tricky....hehe...

I should be sleeping at night, instead of reading these posts and spouting off! LOL...:)

Still, it would be fun to do one, at some point...

So, do you recommend I send to Bella or have a done here locally?

It sounds like Bella is the one to use. His route will ensure there are no snags and you're happy with the final product. I'm sure you could have success with a local person for cheaper, but with the time frame looming, it may be tough to find someone and guarantee success..

Is this a silly idea? I love the look of the CSL wind splits and roof hoop. I see that CoupeKing has both of these. Would it be silly to put on my car? Since my coupe is black, I think it will blend in and not be so obvious to look ghetto. Thoughts are appreciated as now is the time to do this if I am ever going to do it. Do they offer any aero benefits, or is it all about looks?
