What did you do to your E9 today?

Markos,

We'll soon be done with 2020. Why don't you splurge in 2021 and take it out for a drive FOUR times!!!

Stay safe regardless of how many times the car gets to see daylight.

Ha! It will be two long drives. Need to move the car out of the garage for a bit.

Put the coupe away for the winter...but that just means the interior project begins. Saturday I removed the seats and door door cards, Sunday I took out the center console and wood trim on the doors and rear windows.

I am having trouble getting the passenger side rear wood trim assembly removed. In wont budge, small screws removed, and even with some hammer blows. The drivers side broke loose with just a little pressure.

AC controls and condenser to be removed next weekend, then start to prep the floor for sound & heat treatment.

After buttoning up my battery management system so that I could fully charge my 14 Tesla batteries, I drove beyond the Orange Curtain to L.A. to stretch her legs. Had to make a run to the Porsche Experience Center to exchange something anyway. Nice little 70 mile round trip going straight the whole time on the 405, but it was still nice to venture further from home than I ever have. And the guys at Porsche did admire the rare sighting.

After driving my car every day the last couple of months I realize why dead pedals are now standard in just about all cars. Perhaps my size 14s make it worse. So I found a Corvette C5 dead pedal which had about the right form factor, and cut it down to fit in pretty good.

It’s only a rough fit and not fully installed. The carpet mat is able to slip out from under it as needed, as it attaches only to the side.

It feels fantastic to drive now. Maybe tomorrow I’ll have to take lunch down in Dana Point so I can give it a nice long test.

With my engine apart I am detailing and rebuilding various engine compartment components. After 7 years of fuel swilling performance the Webers got some love with cleaned bodies, jets and internals, o-rings, accel pump membranes, other gaskets, a clean/polish, and new fuel hoses and clamps. Ready to go back on:
