What did you do to your E9 today?

I replaced a stripped driver side rear window transmission.
Fun job, I've gotten pretty efficient with replacing these, it's the third one I've done on that window.
I need to replace my front left and rear left… Any advice? Did you use a five series motor?

Wife asked me to put up holiday lights today. Not sure why she is upset. She should have been more specific

I can speculate why.

- Front tire seems low on pressure?
- The black decal behind the grill is gray, need to apply Back to Black after waxing the car.
- The US side reflectors can make any wife upset, spouses never liked the Federalization changes

LOVE IT

Getting car paininted next year and doing reflector delete and Black behind grill. I will check air pressure I thought the same

looks quite good! i definitely like the side panels on the fenders. that gives a great finished look ... especially when they are covered with elephant skin

of course you did @Arde ... its all your fault. i have it on good authority that you will receive your portion of the bill in the coming days

I PICKED MY CAR UP FROM A LOCAL MECHANICAL SHOP ,I HAD A NEW , LEAKING BRAKE MASTER , AND I WANTED MY MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY WORK CHECKED, AS IT WAS A BARE SHELL WHEN I STARTED, 9 MONTHS LATER I GOT A THUMBS UP ON THE ASSEMBLY AND A NEW MASTER . ITS NOT ALL NEGATIVE , AS I DROVE THE CAR HOME FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 86, THAT WAS FUN. I HAVE SOME MINOR ASSEMBLY, AND A FEW ISSUES TO TIDY UP , THEN 2285171 CSL , WILL HIT THE ROAD ,SOOON.

I've been taking advantage of the unseasonably mild weather to rectify a few minor issues:

Firstly, the original starter motor spun the engine over nice and quickly but wasn't engaging cleanly on the first start of the day - I replaced the original with the later type for the E34 M5/535. This might be one job that is easier on a RHD car!

Secondly, "running - in" adjustments, so retorqued the head - the head bolts seemed relatively "loose". A couple of the valve clearances had drifted a few thou wide so were adjusted while I was in there and I checked the spray bar bolts! The points had closed up a little. It took a while to locate the ball on the flywheel but with a dab of paint I was able to see the "ball" and reset the timing with a strobe light.

Mechanically, it's all but there - just an annoying noise from the clutch - hard to describe but it sounds/feels like there is an issue with the release lever/mechanism but i fear it's going to have to come out. Anyway didn't stop me taking it out for a last run of the year....
