What did you do to your E9 today?

Put a battery on, put new fresh fuel in, pumped the pedal half dozen times, turned the key and kieser fired into life 5th turn of the starter after 3 years asleep. sounded superb and when warm, ran like a Swiss watch.
Next job, source and fit a complete new exhaust system. (Please message me if you have one for sale)

Scratch the uncounted day in row stone ship of the wheel housing....

By popular demand, HB Chris and others, took the tinting off windows. Like all "easy" projects this one had a learning curve. I pretty easly steamed the wrap off but was having a heck of a time getting off what I thought was the glue. Lucky I figured out that it had two layers of tint. Once I figured that out and peeled them off at the same time the project progressed very fast. Over half the time was spent on the first window!

Removed my older OEM under hood insulation (messy job) that was staring to crumble. I was afraid the webers would start sucking in chunks. Ordered the Classic 9 closed cell insulation this time.

Just took a test drive after finally getting around to replacing my 3.25:1 diff with a 3.45:1. Much better match for the od 5 speed.

Cut the knee bolster so that it would clear the on/off switch on the cruise control parts from E30 .

I hope I can mke all this shade tree system work.

Yesterday the local Alfa club hosted their yearly snake road rally thru the Florida Everglades. Good turnout of BMW’s.

The BMWs ranged from a 1959 Isetta 600 with a 700 engine to 2002's to E9, to Z3 to Z4 to Z8, to e30,to 3 series to 6 series.. The SunCoast BMW CCA-west coast of Florida- joined us. Cool-weather and a fun ride.

Removed the engine and transmission:

Hi Johan,
@dj_efk is selling a good condition complete ZF gearbox (2800 cs) for a throw away price. You might want to put away a good spare for the future, as parts/ repair become tricky! These 4 spd boxes are being converted to 5 spd thus getting rare to find a good one.

Hi Keshav,

Thx for the info.
Maybe it's better to invest in a 5-speed gearbox instead of another 4-speed? My 4-speed works fine, so I'm not sure whether i'm going for 5-speed.

Hi Johan,
if you go 5 spd you’d have to swap to Getrag and loose the clunky and unique feel of a ZF….. and ZF 5spd is hard to find = expensive.
Mine was just a ’of the bat‘ suggestion.

Did it yesterday, but I think, it's almost good enough to post it today....
Remove the door skin.
