What did you do to your E9 today?

New CN36 tires installed. Air conditioning system charged for the first time and the air blows cold (for now). The spent the night at the shop and there was a release of AC system oil, so I have a leak in the worst possible place, in the evaporator area...

I never want to remove the evap box ever again! It took hours to get it back in place.
I was so excited to hear from the shop after they filled the AC on Tuesday PM as it is the first time the AC has worked after working on various parts for the past four years. Then I heard from them the next morning that they found the leak. I was immediately dreading the thought of pulling the evap box apart again.

I am not going to do it right away, I am participating in the 20th anniversary drive with the BMW Classic Car Club in October and my winter project is the rear end, dropping the third member and refreshing the sub-frame and associated components. Maybe it will magically fix itself if I wait long enough.

Getting the car ready for new tires and having the BBS rims polished more than the first time they were done. The local wheel specialist has the equipment to remove and mount the tires without touching the rims.

Well I drove it from the backside of the pole barn to the front side to make room to redo the window winder. When I got it apart, it was the C-Clip that popped off. Easy fix and then drove it to the mailbox and now have the parking brake light intermittently coming on and off. If it isn't one thing after another. Overall a great day when I get to drive my coupe.

Check your brake fluid level, the floats tend to get a leak and absorb the fluid. The switch can be adjusted if it is the lever itself.
Funny that you mentioned thst. I knew that and had just checked it this evening and it was a smidge low so that it would turn off when i was angled just right. But it was good because i did adjust the brake light too. Thank you.

Finally changed differential oil. Put this off as I could not undo the filler plug. Pleased I did not jump to just releasing the drain plug, because upon further inspection, the filler plug, inside part where a tool would insert to remove, was mangled so much that I could not get any sort of implement in there to remove. But....once I discovered the filler and drain plugs were common to many many BMW products, the new replacements were right there, on the dealer shelf. New plugs in hand, I resorted to the chisel method and removed both, and filled with new Redline gear oil. I noticed that the replacement plugs are shorter, so made sure to fill with a little bit more ;). Anyway, job done, no leaks, diff appears quieter. Messy, but very rewarding job. Original plug on left, replacement on right. Have driven and all is well. :) Mike
