Strut bar.......

Boys !

I have only made 15 sets of my strutbar at this moment !
But there are 20 reservations from "over the pond" and 5 reservations from europe, including me !

And i still dont know the exact price, yes, there is no excuse for it, i know, but:

It´s still in progress, i have to do a lot of detail work, milling, drilling, tapping etc.

And with the aluminium i use there must be a heat treatment after the cast process to make the strength better, you dont want to mount a strut bar that will brake, for this treatment i dont know the price at the moment.

This all will stand a little time, please be patient !

I try to make them as cheap as possible, cause we all are a great community, but at the moment,i think, i have reached the 250 Euro - level, including the heat treatment.
The exchange rate of the $ is so low, that will be at least 375 $ !
Without shipping !
This price includes the nuts, the screws, the swivelheads but not the adjusting tube, because the price for shipping would be too expensive in conjunction with them !

I dont want to oversell !

On my list at the moment are:

  1. ORANGENER (ME)
  2. pmansson (Switzerland)
  3. Keshav (Germany)
  4. TomEi (Germany)
  5. Daniel (Germany)
  6. ecto1(Fjord CSL/Austria)
  7. ecto1(Golf CSL/Austria)
  8. timt(UK)
  9. tyler(UK)
  10. atan888
  11. bmwmadmann
  12. steve
  13. fast3.0csi
  14. iconoclast6
  15. elrey
  16. milli3
  17. decoupe
  18. coupeguy
  19. glaive
  20. t-raz
  21. sprintevo
  22. bimmerboy73

If anyone on this list says, no, thank you, i´m out, i wont be angry !
For all at this list above:
Please let me know you decisions !

Edit: Those who are unmistaken IN i will mark in ORANGE

I will also need to back out. Very nice but a bit more $$ than I would be able to make work.
Thanks

I can stay opt'd in, but I need to know if the strut bar will fit with a stock air cleaner with 38-38 Webers...

Please advise...

Thanks

........but I need to know if the strut bar will fit with a stock air cleaner with 38-38 Webers..........
This should fit !
I´m as close as possible to the bulkhead between engine and ventilation, you would need only 4cm space for the pipe !

physics

First, thats a gorgeous design. Just a question from the automotively ignorant. Does the fact that the strut is behind the towers add a significant amount of torque to the towers when the strut is flexed? Thanks!- Paul

You´re absolutely right !
But there´s no other possibility, because of the intake mainfold !

All other provider have the same problem:

For the Hand and Mangold strut-bars you have to change the holes of the dome-bearing !

Manufacturing completed !

The next thing is the heat treatment...........

Here the picture with nuts, bolts and swivelheads, one with left tap and one with right, to make the strutbar easy adjustable.....

All 15 sets, 30 parts, they were a lot of work, i have to put up them 3 times, 1st the 3 holes, than the flute, than the 12H7-bore.
2 days of work, 3 workplaces full of aluminium chippings (the lathe and my 2 milling machines), 90 times in and out, i have enough for the next 2 years !

I use no screw to fix the swivelhead, i fit a bolt, with bore 12H7/bolt 12e6
A more elegant solution, invisible after mounting.
All i need now are are 60 washers with Ø16/Ø12 and 2mm thickness (distance for the 16mm-swivelhead in the 20mm-flute) and 30 nuts, 15 with M12 left and 15 with M12 right, they have to be welded into the pipe. I will make them from rust-proof steel, because a rust-proof steel-pipe is stronger than one made of aluminium.

Of course you must mention that these will be delivered in Orange?

lol!

(just kidding) One does have to admire the tantilizing way that this excellent component has come to life on these pages slowly but surely... and one can almost taste the superb handling they will provide to those that will go down in CS history as... the 'Lucky 15'...!

Good work Orangener!

PS I still want one for my e24....someday?
Will this fit the 2800CS perfectly?

Cheers!

Thanks for the compliments!

Will this fit the 2800CS perfectly?

I still haven´t proved on an E9 2800Cs, but between stock airfilter housing and wall there are more than 4cm spare, i can remember........so it should fit

I still want one for my e24....someday?

For E24 its quite simple, because available by Walloth&Nesch!

Tell you what Oranegener...(can't recall your first name?)

If you wish, as you posted perhaps I can help coordinate getting these to the proper folks here in the US and then perhaps take on the US end of the shipping charges or some arrangement ... I am in process of purchase (hopefully) a 2800CS and if the 15th unit is available still
we perhaps can work out a trade, to see if indeed it's a proven fit on the 2800CS?... if that makes your life easier?
Stock air cleaner housing looks pretty tight? Here's a photo for your perusal:

I am located in Souther California and forwarding these onward would be an honor and my pleasure...

Cheers!
