I'd be inclined to seam seal all those seams
I did, failed to mention that. And sprayed cavity wax in the seams also.

when we stripped my engine compartment down + painted it, we used a self leveling seam sealer. you can see the version before paint (just primed). we did not put on the insulation.

I think there is just primer under those mats and they were painted after install. If they shrink you can see the primer. Unless I am wrong which is possible!
I'll check mine, there are definitely cracks and I'll see if I can see Fjord or primer underneath

Pulled the front and rear glass out of the car today. I was praying that there would be no significant corrosion at the corners (my E24 was just starting to rust there when I pulled the glass 18 years ago)..

To my great relief there were only two very small areas of surface rust, oddly, right in the middle of the lower windshield area. Nothing in the corners, and nothing at all in in the back!! Yay!!! Dash will come out inthe next few days and then all of that stuff is off to join my Scheel seats to be re-covered.

The package tray was a less good surprise. Apparently some PO had hacked holes for speakers. and I mean HACKED..

Bizarrely, some other PO had, apparently, cut out the package shelf from another car at some point, and had stored the patch under the old package shelf.. So I'll have a bit more welding to do!!
