What did you do to your E9 today?

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Why is there filler here
**** that's rotten too

And that has summed up what I did today on my E9.

much appreciation for people like Christoph who make repro parts for our cars.
————

Looks great Steve. Christoph makes his repro parts better than the originals. I replaced my trunk floor panels with his and after seeing your pics whished I had also bought his firewall insulation. I bought the overpriced BMW original insulation and the foam has teared at all the corners of the hanging clip fasteners.
I have much appreciation for Christoph as well. However, this particular item, the firewall insulation, was disappointing to me. The sticky backing fell apart almost right away and it was very lightweight compared to the real bmw one. I can’t imagine it doing any kind of insulation at all. In this case it is definitely not “better than the originals” I’m afraid. I think it is definitely a case of ”You get what you pay for.” I have been very happy with everything else I got from him but I am going to bite the bullet and order the real deal for this particular item.

agree, I had to use 3M adhesive to get it to stay where I wanted it. I also had to custom cut some areas to fit my rear Weber side draft, and to make room for the a/c pipes at the firewall, not his fault. Definitely not the same as the oem one.

Installed my LED rear parking lights and 4 blinker lights from Superbrightleds.com, and they live up to their name, perhaps they should rename it SuperbrightAFleds.com. I used the NAPA EL13L1 flasher relay with the ground wire, and it works like a charm, no load resistors necessary. Tomorrow's WDYDTYE9T? will be going to the PDR shop to hopefully remove my self inflicted door dent.

Agreed, I am keeping my halogen hi and lo beams, driving lights, and brake lights. The LED's are to combat the inattentive driver around me.

I have an emotional resistance to LED lights on these classic cars. But that looks great, Steve! Much safer, no doubt. Good luck with the dent removal.

FInishing up my front diagnostic port project. Through the usual helpful suspects on this forum and the 02FAQ I have cobbled together the pieces to reinstall the unicorn front diagnostic port wiring. Used for shops to plug in and monitor rpm and timing, I am going to use the port to plug my timing light and Heathkit oscilliscope into it so I don't have to keep connecting it to the battery, coil wire, and #1 plug wire which gets very hot down there. More importantly I think it looks cool. I found the unobtanium #1 plug wire inductor loop as well as an NOS coil wire with its special inductor wire. All hooked up to a nice original bracket, orange cap, and new female socket from Mouser. Next up I will wire a male plug for connecting the diagnostic equipment.

Steve, that is really cool (and functional). Amazing work!

Learnt the very hard way that when squatting down in the boot to drill out spot welds, always look between your legs for any protruding items.

Just got the bits to correctly trim out my Nardi that came with the car. I had to destroy the old horn button to get the period logo badge out. NevrDull polish on the wheel and done!
