What did you do to your E9 today?

Well, not today - but this past weekend we put on 1000 miles driving to Lincoln City & running in the https://lewisandclarkclassicrally.org
We didn't do as well as we had hoped, but managed to get second in the hotly contested Equipped class (& 3rd overall).
Every time we drive this car we love it more, it was just made to put down the miles & is sooo much fun in the twisties.

Also not today…but over the weekend

• I bled the brakes as I had rebuilt the clutch master while the coupe was down for interior replacement. I had noticed that it was bleeding into the cabin. Used the motive power bleeder and really liked the ability to quickly bleed all four wheels
• Fixed the brake light switch which required removal of one of the positioning nuts to allow the switch to have enough throw to turn off the brake lights. This was a new switch and a different length than the original.
• installed lower dash panels and left side glove box to largely finish off the interior. I still would like to replace one of the panels.
• adjusted the valve lash, preparing for the first real drive beyond the driveway when I drop it off at a local shop for windshield gasket replacement (long story posted elsewhere)
• changed the oil and installed the IE spin-on oil filter unit
• replaced the thermostat gasket, confirming that the thermostat was drilled and then topped up the fluid, running the heater unit for the first time since the interior was replaced.

It was a good weekend in the garage!

Moved for the first time under its own power! Not far mind, just turned around on the drive so I can prepare the front end for painting, but i think I can see the finishing tape.

I aired up all four tires as they had lost some air over the last year. I would have jacked up the car and rotated the wheels 180° to keep the rubber from flat spotting too badly but it was raining and with the garage door closed there wasn't enough room to maneuver the big jack. Next, charge the battery!

Garage construction plans are coming along though, so there's that. But it's looking like serious coupe work won't commence till 2023, ish.

I’ve got to get trunk carpet. It just looks great. And while I’m at it, new floor mats.

Got the second wiper motor from germany and installed it and it works awesome. It will be so nice to have wipers that work like they are supposed to. Now off to finish the ignition coil overheating issues, but that will be next week when I start that.

I opted for a divider wall between the main garage. Although it makes the working area tight it will keep the dust down, and parts hoard out of site. Size is 12’ x 23’. Main garage will be “functional parking”.

How wide is this garage look like it is less than a 20'-0" the best size to have it is no less than a 18'-0" to move around the car and work on it

Thanks for the tip. Perhaps I will repour my foundation. As mentioned in the post that you replied to, it is 12’ wide.

Today I started my car. With the key. Not some jankey, push button switch that would never fail to disappoint.

Next question: Is the missing trim piece around the key slot referred to as Retainer: part # 32321118825 ?

That part number is the turn signal return ring. I think used is your only solution.

you're missing a part like this. versions with and without text exist as you see. Walloth&Nesch sold the version without text a few years ago, not sure if they still do.

I'm about half way there....

Recently bought a set with 3 doorpanels with the early basket weave. Intentional was to use the bottom parts , below the lowest alu strip, cut it off, and replace on my door panels the lower 15 cm/5 inch that have a few ugly screw holes there.

But these 3 turned out to be too dark, the wrong color for my car. So after a good clean and refurb these will go into the parts section for cheap.

I've tried to make look them as best as I could, fixing 5 screw holes for speakers in both front panels, but they'll just touch driver quality if you ask me.

The job I wish I never started...and seems to never end. Restoring front grill. Its coming along and I hope I am on the home stretch. More sanding and polishing to do then clear coat. Hopefully soon I will post the finished product

Shoot some CeraKote high gloss clear and it will last for a very long time.
