Looks great, duly noted for future rehab on mine. I’ve found that brake cleaner can get rid of much of the imbedded dirt

Well I got very lucky and found an S3.45 from a 2800 for sale within driving distance, and by pure chance after speaking to the guy, it turned out he was actually looking for an S3.07! So we worked out a deal and swapped diff’s.
The 3.45 should be way more fun with the OD 5 speed.

I heard all 2800 LSD’s were 40% is this true? The guy said it locks very well, better than his current diff, was just the wrong ratio for him..
Break away torque measures about 65nM.
Does anyone know
Breakaway torque specs of these diffs? Couldn’t find the info anywhere.

There is a little bit of play between the crown and pinion gear, how much is normal? Both diffs had some play..

it seems in good condition overall but i’ll get my workshop guy to take a look at it anyway to decide if we change seals/bearings etc..

Both 25% and 40% were available on the 2800CS. Only the 25% was offered on the 3.0CS according to the parts book. The 25 has an M12 ring gear screw, the 40 has an M10 screw.

I picked up a 3.45 S diff a couple of years ago. Now I need to figure out if it is a 25% or 40%. Add it to my list...

You should be able to see if the diff has S25 or S40 stamped into the housing if you open the vent on top of the case + use a flashlight.

This is what you're looking for:

Well I thought the axles were done but the more time I have, the more stuff I find to replace and upgrade haha

I just swapped out the brake discs for drilled ones from Wallothnesch. One of the permissible brake upgrades with tüv.

I’m waiting on bigger ST sway bars to arrive (on back order), also have to install the LSD next

Thanks guys, it’s 40%

you can actually just see it without an endoscope, but it’s not easy to take a picture haha

Sorry to dilute your thread. Just wanted to share the alternative. I checked mine thanks to @Gransin method. Unfortunately I found that mine is a 25% model.

Your rear carriage looks great. I am dropping mine in the next few days.

Received a package from Coupe king, a couple of brackets I was searching for, air box and brake lines.
Plus the very nice stainless steel 5 speed mounting brackets they make.

I also picked up these original 16x7 and 16x8 Alpina B7 wheels locally
I have been planning to find another set/pair and run 4 x 16x8 Alpinas.
That was until I saw @Keshav ’s thread about 3 piece Alpinas.. now I have something else to consider! Haha

Also behind you can see a brand new inner fender. Hopefully the last piece of sheet metal I have to buy

Long time no update.. car is still in the body shop. Rear metal work is more or less done, currently working on the doors, decided to go for aluminium door skins. last to finish will be the driver side front end. Quite a bit to do still..
The adjustable suspension techniques sway bars finally arrived from ie Motorsport after almost 4 months waiting... they look great though. Looking forward to installing those one day..

James--I just had the restoration shop install both of these anti-sway bars in my Coupe. The square tubes on the front bushing holders must be cut off to clear the subframe. That's why they are not listed on the ST website as fitting the E9. They will fit once those tubes are removed.
