what batteries did you use?
what batteries did you use?
One Antigravity ATX20-hd. ( Ultimately removed.)

Or, lead acid/AGM: two Batteries Plus 12v 24HL-BS AGM12/0.

Long story, but the Antigravity was removed because the dumb installer guy ( that’s me) had busted the brushes in the alternator and it wasn't charging the Lithium Antigravity unit. I removed Antigravity unit.

With 90% confidence, there wasn't a compatability issue. The broken brushes were the problem. I changed to the AGMs and then found the brush problem after the two AGMs were in place. I left well enough alone.

RP,

Can you share some pictures of your motor mounts? And how you managed to get the motor properly in its place?

I’m working on a s38b36 swap but with using the original motor mounts M30/e9 I had to take out the radiator because the fan hits it.

Hard to see it, look beside the oil filter housing. Driver side.

Lots of polished nuts!

Passenger side just below the heat shield and bundle-of-snakes header pipes.

More polished nuts.

Rear of engine photograph with knock-out hole for wiring pass thru and a bit of valve cover clearance.

Yep, polished nuts.

Thx, that is interesting, I did the same but was not able to put the original style radiator in. Is it correct that you have a slightly adjusted radiator compared with the original? The center core looks a bit thinner then original? Interesting to check whether the M88 is slightly smaller in length then the S38b36. It looks like you have comparable clearance between your firewall and engine like mine has, while I didn't had to modify the firewall.

Does the M88 have different options/locations to attach the engine brackets in terms of the screw holes on the engine? I thought that the M30/M88/S38 are all almost equal to eachother regarding this what I read?

I don’t recall any different location “bosses” on the block.

The radiator is an inexpensive unit I picked up from an eBay site.

Could you notch the area in front of the radiator to allow for clearance?
Perhaps look at other pictures of retrofitted/repower engines.

Sorry that my pictures we not of any help.

Looks like your motor mount heat shield has a crack at the bend. Will vibration eventually make the crack expand?

Yep, but it does have nice powdercoating.
Not concerned in the least about further expansion…

Thanks.

At the 12:00 position is the light switch.

Just below is a rectangular magnet that was glued to the metal frame. The magnet holds the fuse panel/door “up” and closed. I used the magnet to replace the twist handle opener that broke and spit the spring to a yet discovered location.

The handle opener is installed on the fuse panel/door, it just doesn’t function.
