After some messing around I finally got the correct thermostat housing for my car. Much prefer the clean lookwas also necessary to clear the triple carb set up.

Here you can see the differences in thermostat housings from the original to now.

@James,

Please don’t be offended if in 5 years, I have a motor that looks *exactly like yours. :D

Some fuel, vacuum lines, and throttle linkages starting to go on

Quick question on this. Do you need two separate throttle linkages when you are using balancers between each carb? If adjusted properly I think it could only help with strain on the butterfly shafts. For some reason I was thinking I would only need one throttle linkage on the center carb.

He's using the "crossbar" setup with 2 linkge rods to the other carbs, the "intercouple" setup eliminates the the 2 rods in favor of linkage/balance adjustment pieces between #2 & #3 carbs in line with the throttle shafts. So theoretically the crossbar setup may prevent some throttle shaft torquing when force is applied from #1 to #3 carb but in reality with steel throttle shafts it's a non issue. Crossbar is sexier, intercouple easier to synch imho.

I will have to digest this. I don’t see how you can have a crossbar with two linkages operating three butterfly sets. Something connects the third carb. I just don’t fully understand yet but I’ll figure it out. :)

Some crossbar setups have 3 rods, one for each carb. In this case it looks like a rod for carbs 1 and 2 with a intercouple between 2 and 3.

Thanks guys, as mentioned this is the standard throttle linkage for the B2 set up. The throttle linkages themselves were not so easy to find, but I managed to find some new ones from a porsche specialist as my old ones were a little bent/rusted.

I just replaced the Ignition lead tube with a new one as the old one was a little bent and worn. A little over kill for the price haha :/
Also installed new silicone HT leads.

Beautiful work James! I was so worried that the story was going to turn much darker when you removed the black rubbery crap. But the damage seemed localized, and it looks like you cut it out and repaired it nicely. Congrats! Cant' wait to see pics of it all together so you can enjoy the refreshed engine and new suspension.

The scope creep is consistent with so many of our projects. "I think I'll change the oil. While there..." Again, nice work!
Mission Creep, in the end you will be happy, in 5 years you will be happy and will have forgotten the "extra" money spent

This guy on the left could be a match. Get some decent pics. Very good price and you can unload the ASS seat on the right.

Thanks Markos, I Actually already messaged him but that price is for one seat only, with no headrest and the wrong rails, badge on the bottom is missing too. Looking for a better deal than that. I still have time so happy to wait for a better one. Singles do pop up here and there.

Interesting. Gerrit makes headrests. The sliders aren’t super difficult to find, but factor in several hundred euros more for a set. I’m curious though, what bottom badge are you referring to?

I believe there was a metal plaque on the bottom of the backrest stating the model/part number. (?)
I’m not looking for a perfect specimen, complete interior will be retrimmed anyway.
The point was just that €1500 is too much for 1 incomplete, average condition seat.

Thanks anyway for the link, for the pair it would indeed be a reasonable deal. But singles do occasionally come up for sale for far less than that (hence why I now have one haha) and I’m in no rush so I’ll keep searching a while

Out of interest where is the best place to get sliders/tilt mechanisms? Used?
I only know of Mark (daddywad) on here who makes reproductions.

Mark is the only retailer that I know. I see a frame come up here and there. If you don’t want them to tilt they aren’t that complex. The sliders themselves are separate from the stationary frame. Sliders come up on ebay also, and some
forum members have spare sets.
